Hi guys,
I think it's normal for a large percentage of registered members to be the silent majority. Generally they enjoy reading the ongoing discussions until the time is right for them to participate on a more active basis.
Take for example the ever popular R*l*xforums. Their registered members total 22600+, but the most number of people online is only 466. That gives a ratio of 2.06%. Ours is around 14% (9/64), so it's not too bad. The percentage of MWF members who are active is actually quite high.
Having said that, about slightly more than half the registration are by spam bots. I've been banning these spam accounts, but they still show up in the total tally. Maybe I should just delete these accounts outright so that the correct number of members will be shown.
I think we don't really have to worry about the number of active members as long as the discussions are friendly, educational and enjoyable. Still, it would be great if the forum membership could grow to reflect the popularity of watch collecting as a hobby amongst Malaysians.
On the other hand if this place grows too popular, I'm afraid my server may be overloaded or the bandwidth quota exceeded.
Just my 2 cents.
