Was just taking stock of my stashes. Look like I don't have any brand loyalty so far.



The quartz Tag was my beater for more than 10 years and was a gift from my dad to commemorate my acceptance into uni. Started collecting watches quite late in my life. Only started buying my first real watch back in 2006, the Omega Seamaster. At that time I thought one good mechanical watch is good enough and that thought in fact lasted for a better part of 3 years. Then I found watch forum on the internet. The rest is history and I hv gone downhill in term of saving money for rainy days...

As I was spending too much on myself, need to keep the wifey happy too. Thus more money spent... These are hers...



Sorry for the ranting out in my post but the moral of the story is watch collecting is a black hole that will just suck you in.... But then again I'm happy too have them...

Plus those watches are also part of your "investments" which can be sold "easily" should you need to consolidate your "investments" and rebalance your portfolio with new purchases

I really like the way you view watch collection as "investments"... But so far I'm a keeper not a flipper. Worse still I keep buying new. Should start looking at pre-owned to cut down on initial investment cost.

It is a great collection, and a real great husband and a gentleman to purchase such fine timepieces for your other half...

Like I said earlier, I'm currently still a keeper. Try to wear most of them in rotation on a weekly basis on week days, other than the G-Shock and Tissot T-Touch which are worn on casual weekend. I usually wear the Tissot for travel since it has all the temperature, compass thingy etc. But I guess, it will need to compete with the Seiko Astron now.

Frankly, on hindsight, there is one watch that I should hv gotten instead but was side-tracked and missed getting it. If you notice, I based to a certain extend my collection on some form of theme/historical/pioneer status. The IWC Flieger since IWC was one of the first company to produce pilot watch. The PAM on the Italian Navy "Pig" history, the Explorer II on the heritage of the original Explorer that goes to the top of Everest. Thus there is one more which I should really get, the Omega Speedy - the original "moon watch". Hopefully I would not get side-tracked the next purchase. I was thinking of it for this year but the Astron captivated me and impulse took over!

The Stowa MO is a very nicely finished watch at reasonable price. Nothing fancy, no lume, hand-winding Unitas 6498 work horse, reliable and accurate. The best part of it is the effort Jorg Schauer put into making the watch, the details and finishing is superb. The white enamel dial is perfect, the black indices/marking is very clear and defined eventhough it is very fine and small. The blue hands are really something. It has a see-through sapphire caseback which you can clearly see the movement which is lightly decorated. You can see the synthetic ruby jewels and Jorg use blue gear which really makes it looks really nice. The case is just nice in size for me (if I remember correctly it is 41mm), light and comfortable. Only thing is the leather strap which will wear quickly in our weather which sweat and all. I have already replacement a set after 2 years or so. Lastly, I opt for the deployant buckle which is simple to use.

  There are more than 2 empty slots - it has another compartment/drawer below. It's a 24 slot watch box. I'll go broke if I really going to fill all of them. Currently my kids' watches are there.

Have not invested on a winder yet. Rather expensive for a good one. So will just manually set up each one I want to use and wind it before wearing. I usually rotate my watch once a week. Thus will do it on the weekend when free.
