It really depends on what kind of watch you are looking for.  Something dressy or sporty?  New or used?  Need to be a little more specific or we would all be shooting in the dark.

I'm thinking of buying a Breitling Navitimer. I saw an ad for a pre-owned Navitimer priced at slightly less than RM12k.

(Yes, I know that it's more than RM10k and it's not new, but what the heck, you only live once).

Get a brand new Grand Seiko (need to top up a bit). Or my personal favorite IWC Pilot Mark XVI (pre-owned).

An excellent choice..
I have a Tangomat GMT Plus myself…

But where do you expect the TS to buy a piece apart from online order.
Besides he might wish to try it on the wrist for a hands on view as would most ppl..

Hang on to your cash until you see something you really like. After that, hold yourself back and find out more about the model and brand. A decision will come after that...

Good point. Guess i was just thinking "what would I get?" The tangomat is real classy, and looks like a real bang for buck watch

Good advice. Can anyone recommend a Tag watch within the RM10k budget?

that's quite a lot to spend on a Tag... try browsing their website first and see what you like... around that budget, most probably the Carrera series

10k is quite a lot for a tag. What kind of watch would you like? Dressy? Sporty? Chronograph? Classy? Diving watches?
Go to the AD and check it out first, if you really like it, then get it

hmm... since you're asking what we would buy new for approx. 10 grand...

Dress
1. Junghans - Meister Kalender (beautiful piece although not any in-house movement, but totally nothing wrong with that. Tried one on and wanted to take it home)
2. Frederique Constant - Slimline Moonphase Manufacture (VFM!!!)

Sport/Casual
1. Alpina - Worldtimer Manufacture (still haven't seen one in the metal, my mind could change if it doesn't feel right)
2. Tudor - Heritage Chrono Blue (believe a bit of topping up required for a new one, but search hard enough and you may come across a rare pre-owned piece)

Hope you find something that speaks to you...

Good advice. Can anyone recommend a Tag watch within the RM10k budget?

These Tag Heuer timepieces, and they come in various guises, should be around your budget :

Carrera Calibre 16 : CV2013.FC6234
Carrera Calibre 8 : WAR5011.FC6291
Aquaracer Calibre 16 : CAP2120.BB0834
Aquaracer Calibre 5 : WAF2011.BA0818
Monaco Calibre 6: WW2110.FC6177

Have fun choosing the One that speaks to you!

You may want to add this to your choice. Latest 2014 model and dressy, if you don't mind an ETA movement.

Big yes from me for the Frederique Constant. In house movement, available in ss or gold and I was quoted RM8,300 for it. I was really in love with it. Only thing holding me back was the 42mm size. I'd prefer a smaller case for a dress watch, but that is just me...

I just went for this pre-owned vintage in relatively pristine condition (http://andywristwatches.blogspot.com/2014/04/rolex-datejust-1.html) and am happy like bird tonight...

Thanks for all the advice. I bought a Tag (WAU111A.BA0858) at slightly less than half of my original budget.

Congratulations on netting your F1 Quartz and it's a good start. Now the poison starts and it'd just be a matter of time, no pun intended, before you start watching out for mechanical watches.
