What would you buy with RM500?
« on: March 20, 2014, 04:46:36 PM »
What watch would you buy if you only have RM500 to spend?
IMO, the Seiko 5 would be the best for this price. What do you think? ;D

Under RM500 and mechanical, Seiko or that nice Orient. Skip those with steel bracelets as cost cutting measures gets you a poor quality bracelet.

That Bambino looks absolutely amazing for such an affordable budget! That, and coupled with the photography skills of course  :Jumping: For other options, I think quite a number of Seiko 5 models could be had at RM500 and these would be very value-for-money watches. The military type especially could be a good, knockabout addition.

Although I didn't buy another Orient...I can't agree more...This is such a classic and bang for buck. I was wearing this at a wedding dinner last week with a suit and a tie and someone wearing a SUB C LV asked me...hey, that is a nice watch, is it expensive?  ;D

bro,

i have the same convo all the time...everytime someone tries to guess the value of the bambino when im wearing it, its normally in the 1k-3k range, no one believes its Rm450. Once you buy a nice strap for it, it looks even more expensive

I shall poison you with what i upgraded the bambino for.(luminous, sapphire crystal, power reserve gauge...and still under rm1k)

OK, it's not a watch, but it's probably the only 'Best Anything in the World' that RM500 is going to get you.

Plus, it's made in Australia

My only problem I had with the only Orient i ever owned which was the Hogrider was that the lume was exceptionally dim. Other than that, it is really one of the best watches that money can buy. Any how strong is the lume on the bambino?

Seiko 5 or Orient
Personal taste and preferences evolve over years, hopefully not 1 full circle otherwise it means we haven't learnt a single thing.

Seiko 5 and Orient are two brands with sub RM500 models. Invicta is also a good source. Their mechanical watches that uses Miyota is priced along that line.
