thought they upgraded the case size for both the EXP 1 and 2 to 39mm and 42mm respectively

how bug do you want to go further? 44mm 3,6,9 markers?

New bracelet.

All I want is a proper bracelet to go with the DSSD.

Current one is out of proportion.

Very well quoted. That's a very logical explanation

If they came up with a Seadweller in 42mm with updated parachrome, ceramic bezel (better if the bezel numerals had imbedded chromabrite -like the Pelagos), latest solid bracelet and glide lock clasp, I'd really be tempted to buy back a Rollie after >10 yr break in ownership.... ;D   I.E. IF  the price is not inflated to ridiculous levels.
Whilst I understand that many like it to remain 40mm, all of us have different sized wrists and a 42mm is just perfect for mine.
I can wait till this ideal model in my head materializes otherwise no lost sleep over it.

Rolex makes small incremental improvements once every decade. Is it because there's only so much they can do within the limited designs or they think its good enough to keep the loyalists to keep buying so they release a small incremental improvement one at a time to keep up the interest.

The latest Explorer II size was perfect in size for me but I just can't get over the fat hour and minute hands which I think is out of proportion.
The Freccione GMT hand, that I love..

Totally agree on the fatter hands and markers and the engraved bezel is too deep and bold, too "in your face". That's just my preference. I am more towards classic design. I have always liked an Air King but 34mm a tad too small. Make one at 38mm. That will be special.

Tastes being v personal, the Yachtmaster II, Sky Dweller, those gem stone blinged out Daytonas or leopard themed models would be the very last of the Rolex or for that matter ANY watch I would consider…..to the extent that even if any of these were gifted to me, I'd sell them off the next moment….
(face-palm)... :P

The sun will rise from the west and pigs can fly before any watch is gifted to me..(in fact none-to-date has ever been gifted to me except a Seiko Kinetic and some Swatches eons ago and duly disposed as well)
Please don't wait for me... :Laughing_on_floor:

Oh ya, an Explorer in 42mm would be lovely too…. too bad its only 39mm up from 36mm..furthermore IMHO Rolex did a huge boo boo when they increase diameter from 36-39mm but left the hour and minute hands the same size so on the 39mm, the hands are very conspicuously too short hence looks hanging.. much like a Tissot Visodate..

Dress watches can be slim and petite (i.e. 36mm-38mm max) in fact they should be; but sports watches look odd if they are too small relative to the wrist they are on. Thats my opinion and taste only of course.

A complete calendar with moon phase like in the 50s but at 40mm by rolex would be a hot cake.

I had earlier mentioned this in passing in one of my comments on Rolex as to why I am no longer a Rollie owner for the last decade.

The Rolex of those earlier years were to me, far more attractive having complications like triple dates and moonphases. Those designs will always be classics. These were models in addition to the simple time only.

Obviously with technological advancement in manufacturing techniques resulting in higher quality materials and more accurate tolerances, accuracy and quality of the watches nowadays may be superior but dial and movement design wise, those were the golden years of Rolex.

Whilst I harbor the same wishes as you do, I'm quite certain Rolex is very unlikely to revert to those complications as they are far too contented with their time only, GMT, day-date and chrono. Why rock the boat based on their simple base movements when sales go through the roof every year. Change a bezel or dial colour, introduce a new material and loyalist will be thankful and short term demand will spike...till the next 'upgrade'

Incidentally its far far harder to achieve chronometer accuracy when complications like triple date, moonphase, etc are added on due to the heavier demand on gear train and mainspring barrel.

Added to this, Rolex has always been touting its 'Superlative Chronometer' label although many other 'normal' chronometers or even non-certified chronometers can be as accurate, if not even more so. By adopting complications, they may very well not be able to live up to the 'Superlative Chronometer' label.
