hmmm I said 'amongst the lowest' not the lowest.
When I said that, Rado was not on my mind. In fact Rado is one of those brands that's NEVER on my mind (e.g. of other brands never on my mind….de Grisogono, Van Cleef & Arpels, Jacob & Co, Cvstos, deLaCour, Cuervo y Sobrinos, etc) where it comes to watches. Note: it took me several minutes to recall these brand names and how they spelt.. a branding issue or a product issue?
Rado is nowhere in the same class as Tudor… their dial/hands finishing leaves much to be desired and movt. wise its the ubiquitous ETA so no diff there as well.(not unless they rework it like IWC/Breitling or use the top grades like Tudor)
My interest in Rado was only recently piqued when they launched their recent ceramic cased watches and I went to check out the watches at Pavilion stand.
I returned the watches not even 5 minutes after using a loupe to check their dials, hands and alignment. The person in charge of QC should be sacked.
My initial sputtering interest has since been totally extinguished and I swore never to waste time on viewing another Rado for a long long time.
I only laud them for their ceramic and previous scratch resistant case technology (was it some diamond thingy in the V series). In my mind they are better off providing 'state of the art' ceramic or scratch resistant watch cases, not assembling watches…Even some micro brands at a much lower price point do a better job..
I was comparing this Tudor ceramic with the other ceramics like Omega DSOTM, IWC Top Gun (the older 7750 driven version), Chanel J10, etc.
Of coz no point comparing with the APROOs…..
From the pics the sub dials, hour indices and hands look a bit unrefined..
I wonder how it looks like in the metal….
Furthermore its covered in plastic so lots of distortion and reflection..and with the difficult lighting in the shop, a flash doesn't help in making the watch attractive...
The price though is amongst the lowest for a full ceramic cased watch….even housing ETAs..
Thanks for the alert, however..
And when compared to Rado??
Tudor + ETA = RMxx,xxx
Rado + ETA = RMx,xxx
