AP RO or ROO?
« on: February 27, 2014, 08:15:32 PM »
Hi all cfus here, I am now saving money to acquire my first ever AP. However, I am spoilt between the AP RO 15400 and ROO diver. I really admire the sporty look of the diver but since this is my daily watch, deep down in my heart, I know 15400 shall be a smarter decision. Any opinion, guys and gals?

RO - it's all class.  Offshore is not.

Offshore.

If its an RO , make sure it is a 39mm/37mm. 41mm looks a little weird to me.

Having owned both, my advise is this. If this watch is your dress watch, go for the RO. An RO can be used as a sports watch but bear in mind the 50m WR. It fits below the sleeve very nicely though. However, for one you can dress up or down, I would say the ROO is better. It is sportier and has a higher water resistance so it can take more than just splashes of water.

Good point.  If you're planning on regularly diving to depths exceeding 50 m, the RO is not the watch for you.

Wow - quite a job where you can wear t-shrt and jeans, and get paid enough to buy an Audemars Piguet!  What is your role?

Definitely stick with the RO (unless you have 8+ inch wrists).

In my >20 yrs scuba around Asia, I've NEVER seen any diver wearing an APROO even those wealthy Sporean, Taiwanese, HK/mainland Chinese or caucasians.
The most expensive I've ever seen is a two tone Submariner. Maybe the APROO divers are on live aboard yachts... :Blue:
Majority wear Seiko, TAG, Omega, Suunto, Swatch & Gshocks

Nolah boss, i am just a small "ikan bilis" business man. Just that sometime my company has extra cashflow, i tend to spend it in somewhere else; now i rather lock my money in watches. of coz i also have passion in fine watches, especially now has been heavily intoxicated in MWF...

The APROO Diver was only launched in 2010. Maybe that is why you never seen one. I am sure with a lot of newly-affluent people now, there will be one or two diving with the AP Diver in steel.

6.5" wrists can wear ROOs just fine. Just change the standard strap to an XS to get a nice fit. The same cannot be said about the 41mm RO with the stiff steel bracelet. There will be a gap at the lugs. The ROO diver is fine too with a tang buckle but do you want a diving watch or a sporty one ie. ROO chrono?

Or find the older 39mm RO or Jumbo. But the the Jumbo will cost almost as much as the ROO chrono and harder to find...

Just my opinion and hence recommendation, Mr. Kong!  If you are happy with the look that is all that matters.

I'll never have to worry about it, because both the RO and ROO are WAY above my pay grade.

 :'(

But yeah, that doesn't look too bad on you.

So Nice!!! My wrist is exactly 6.5". Too bad ROO chrono is definitely out of budget.

More votes to RO, an all rounder watch. Emm..i think have to take time to the AD to molest both watches...
