Dun listen to Master Enkidu, he is half man half animal, you never know when he is which half  :Laughing_on_floor:

Wow Eric, you didn't tell me you read the classics as well.... [Add: As a rule of thumb, the bottom half below the tummy is always animal  ;D]

Just to add, I too think the LLD or a vintage Omega (maybe a speedy??) will be good. Go for it and post lots of pics!!!

RM5,000 can buy alot of watches...
dont fall into myth of ROLEX is the only watch that wont loose money!

its not true! and misleading

if you buy a submariner, after payment, warranty card dated, bracelet adjusted, plastic wrap taken off, walking out from a shop =
few thousand dollar gone.
so buy a branded rm5k swiss watch, lost more than a rolex?

like many sifu said before, you buy a watch to wear.... thinking of selling it one day is like, before marry you think of divorce!
always buy thing you like, you feel like wearing it. after you wear for years, dont talk about losses, because you wear it, you use it !

as for Enkidu comment - sound like a regret man, who miss his schooling day not screwing enough girls.

Been there and done that, not on watches, but fashionable shirts and jeans. Waste a lot of working part-time hard-earned money during college days to impress others, didn't get much attentions from girls by dressing like a rock star though  :Laughing_on_floor:

Looking back, If I would have do it all over again, I'll throw the RM5k into Fix Deposit, buy unit trusts, buy shares or like Enkidu said, spend it on travelling, as much as possible, a 'wild' and unforgettable 1.

Don't buy 'interim' watch just for the sake of want to own 1. Save up more and aim for 'grail' watch, else, spend the money on other things.

Preferably the Maurice Lacroix pontos day-date as it is the one I liked the most in my list, also the one I enjoy looking at and wearing it the most as I had a look and wore it at the AD.
Maybe going to have a look at the LLD when I'm free, and I'll make my decision by then!

I understand, but getting a watch is for the sake of enjoyment myself, not the sake of impressing others. I enjoy collecting watches, looking at them simply makes me happy.
I'm still young, I suppose, and this RM5000 is the money I work as a part-time for, and did not take a single cent from my savings, I do have quite an amount of savings for other purposes (not trying to broad lol), and of course a part of funding for my next watch, that would most probably be a Rolex sub when I'm a little more older!   ;)

Porsche is only good for starter and first impression,  as things going 'well', one will wish the car is Toyota Unser  :Laughing_on_floor:

It seems you are quite determined to get the ML despite all the saucy and distracting advice we gave you. Your steadfast attitude is admirable. ML is a bona-fide watch making company and their watches are (as far as I know) quite good value for money. But maybe you should check out Sinn, Oris, the LLD as well before you pull the trigger. They should be within your budget also. Post lots of pics when you are done.

When it comes to this kind of activity, it's never ever enough.   When it comes to this kind of activity, you never regret what you did but only what you did not do.  ;D But yea, I do have a regret list of girls I wish I had screwed all those years ago....

hahaha...this thread has veered off into another saucy interesting matter....

Coming back to the issue at hand, I've always been of the opinion that there is no right or wrong decision in buying a watch.
As long as you KNOW EXACTLY what you are paying for, its your money, your joy, your 'shiok sendiri' factor that counts...you do not need to convince anyone else why you want to buy any watch even if 99.999999% of WIS say otherwise..

Forums are merely to share information and facts which are not always represented in advertisements....

Isn't it a natural progression for a football player to score goals before he gets too old to play and ends up managing a football team?

I think Bro Enkidu's idea is to score hits, not start a football team...

But to our younger bro Mike here, please don't make your first major watch purchase a part of your regret list.

Veering off-topic indeed...  ;D

To the TS, I'd suggest you try on the ML watch you are thinking of. Take a few pictures and leave. If you find yourself thinking about it often and dream in your sleep having it on your wrist, then you should go back and pick it up. You want to be sure that you really want it and not just for those few moments in the shop.
