Watch Cleaning Tutorial
« on: February 06, 2014, 03:08:21 PM »
Hey all, have you notied that over time your watch bracelet becomes sticky and has some black gunk stuck in the crevices? Does your watch bracelet not shine as new? If yes, then it means its time for you to wash your watch.

Of course there is the professional way of cleaning which involves ultrasonic cleaning. But personally from experience, a home cleaning does wonders.

Here is a step by step guide:

(1) Get all the supplies needed.

  • 2 containers (1 for soap, 1 for water)
  • 1 tablespoon detergent powder
  • 1 bottle methylated spirit
  • 1 old soft toothbrush
  • 1 thick cloth
  • 1 polishing cloth (get from car care dept. in shopping center)

All the things set out.
Fill one container with tap water.
Fill another container with tap water and add detergent. Stir well.

(2) Brushing the Bracelet

Brush across the links and following the links. Make sure you get all the links and clasp done. Finish the front and start brushing the inside of the bracelet.

(3) Rinsing the bracelet.

Immerse the bracelet into the container with tap water only and swirl around. Use your fingers to massage the bracelet and wash the body of the watch.
(if the watch is waterproof, you may rinse under the tap too)

(4) Drying the bracelet.

Dry the bracelet and body with thick soft cloth and allow it to air dry. If it has a deployant clasp, use a q-tip and brush some methylated spirit into the spring clasp area.

(5) Poilishing the bracelet.

Polish the bracelet with the polishing cloth. You may polish the body too. No need for any compounds, just use the cloth.

(6) Done

Watch all done, clean and ready for storage.

Hope this simple tutorial is helpful to everyone.  ;D

Have fun !!!
