Selling a Sinn U1
« on: June 25, 2010, 07:44:00 AM »
Hello everybody,

I'm a newbie but I've been reading this forum for quite some time. I currently have a brand new Sinn U1 that I am thinking of selling - due to a sudden change in mind. I think I should have bought the SDR version instead  :HammerHead:

I'm not putting it up on the sales forum yet because I would like to get some feedback from the forum members. Any of you own the SDR version? How does the bezel withstand scratches?

original u1 is the best looking sinn!
Unique hands
sub marine steel

I do not like pvd the bezel kinda design!
Either full black or don't do it... Just bezel is weird!

you do not need to get a SDR ..you can buy the PVD bezel from Sinn to replace.

Hi Roboshar,
The bezel is tegimented on both the U1 and U1 SDR. The SDR bezel has a black PVD coating. Despite the tegiment treatment, if you hit the bezel hard enough it will still scratch and dent. If that happens on the SDR bezel, it's going to look funny because the underlying steel color will show through, making the dent or scratch all the more obvious.

IMHO you should keep the U1.

Just my 2 cents.

By the way, welcome to MWF.

Sinn's PVD coating is quite durable. I have a 857s and the PVD is holding very well despite my initial fears.

i have a few "scratches" on the clasp and case edges...was having heartache but slowly the "scratches" dissapeared

what i thought initially were "scratches" were actually the metal rubbing off on my watch! so it;s very durable..

but my watch is having uneven coating problems ....spots around the caseback is fading.

since we're talking about U1 - any of you have or has seen the tegimented clasp for the rubberstrap?
