Watch storage - safe?

Hi guys

Now we have watches for different occasions, watches for the wife, watches for this and that what about safe storage?

Any one using a safe at home ? How huge is safe? One off get a big safe? Or gradually from small safe to big safe?

Some interesting topic to chat about.

Well, my opinion is...

If you have a safe at home and happened to be burglarized:-

If you are at home, they will put a knife at your throat and ask you to open it.

If you're not home. They will carry the safe away if it's too small.

If it's too big, they will just cut it open.

And I dunno about KL but most often or not, a house has been targeted for burglary... they already know if there's a safe or not in that house.
Either it is a group job with the ppl who sells these safes, or by relatives... yes... relatives who know you have a safe at home.
You will be surprised.

Best place is still a bank safe... and get them insured.

Having a safe does prevent your watches from being stolen by petty thieves.  Not all burglars have the equipment to open up a safe...especially if you buy a proper safe with cash rated values.  Most safes could also be bolted into a wall or to the floor from the inside...it will almost be impossible for them to carry it away unless they are professionals and have already targeted your fortune...in which you are pretty much screwed either way.  It is better to have some deterrent than to have none at all...at least you will be safe from the normal drug addict burglars.

For peace of mind I keep my collections in the Safe ,  Just got myself a Boxy winder and battery supply adapter so no messy wires

A gd safe is not easy to open, u need more than 10 hours to open it....

Small safe won't be useful... Thief will use ur blanket to pull it and bring it up to car...
Stay at condo, it's safer, it's hard to carry a safe like that without getting attention

As for landed, u can anchored the safe to wall or ground...

But like Hanz said - nowadays most scary is robber bring gun! U hv to open whatever safe u hv...


So find a gd well gated and guarded place to stay is better!

I use a mid-size safe which seems too heavy to carry..... but it comes with rollers on one side...

not sure if this works but worth a shot... the idea is to have 2 safes, 1 in a more obvious visible place (for some money and some valuables) whilst the real mccoy in an extremely hidden place where you stash your priceless valuables... the thought is that burglars/robbers nowadays get pissed if they hold you at knife-point and get nothing out of it so the 1st safe is to allow them to get away with something... and hopefully them not getting to find out about the other one... just a thought that came up during a drinking session... don't blame me if they find out of both...  (touch wood lar)

buy a dozen of fakes and keep in the visible safe? but if they get pissed off and cari u balik......

Safes at home are more trouble than good, unless of course you are using it primarily more as a "fire resistant" safe ie. for documents. There are too many stories from friends where thieves broke in and carted off electrical goods, then came back a second time with professional help to cart off the safe they stumbled upon during the first break-in.

If you must install a safe at home, keep it well hidden. Living in a high-rise condo helps too but burglars/robbers are always creative. They do not even need to cart the safe out of the building.

i have a small safe at home but i only keep passports, fix deposit certs and birth certs... no watches or money inside..

well, home safe may not be perfect, but i think it is still a much better place to keep your watches than in drawer.

My watches are insured so I'm not too worried about them, the exception being an antique pocket watch which was a gift from my parents.  It's irreplaceable.  That one is stored in a safe deposit box at a bank.

If you guys got a gun - the next best thing is a fireproof gun safe. To big to haul away.....

Yeah, it's not perfect, but it's the best solution.  More or less 100% secure - I would be devastated if anything were to happen to it.  And it's not like I wear a pocket watch very often!

To own a Pistol now a days is almost impossible even u have Millions in your account , As for Semi-Auto Or Over/Under Shotgun the main purpose its Pest Control and sports like Skeet and Clay, so if u have Oil palm or Durian Plantation u can try to apply for a Shotgun , Shotgun is perfect for House defend but the bad thing is u cant carry the darn thing with u to bank

With the rampant shooting and murder that happened over the past 1 year, i started to wonder how come so many guns floating around in our "Tightly controlled" country. ( i understand illegal possession of gun may carry a death sentence, no?)
