they are SBGA099 (white) and SBGA101 (black)

Joseph, perhaps they trying to make entry level SD chrono, price wise are about 100,000 yen cheaper too

If they make a version with contrasting sub dial it will be very interesting. I personally welcome a san gmt model but the dial doesn't speak to me.

It's a welcome direction though.

Though GMT is a pleasant function added to a watch, it makes setting the date more tedious. So, either one wears the watch "most of the time", a frequent cross time zone traveler or plainly prefer having the GMT hand, it is a small annoyance.

I agree with Godzillaz, contrasting sub dials would make the chronograph GS watches more interesting.

The dial is asymmetrical vs symmetrical for a traditional tri-compax.

The movement should based on the 9R86 from the SBGC001,003,005,007 looking at the location of the sub dials, PR and date but with the GMT hand removed.
The bracelet looks more utilitarian without the brushed and intermittent polished links.

Hard to explain in words. Better seen in action.
The chrono pusher is a 3 piece design.
Upon unscrewing there is an outer sleeve of the pusher that either retracts or covers the pusher button completely. Beautiful piece of engineering and concept and much more expensive to execute. Although I agree it is a bit big but when you see it in action you'll understand why.
I asked and got the answer from no less than their designer that the pusher design follows the pushers on Seiko's timing watches used for the Olympics, meant for repeated use and no jump when triggered. The function overrides the aesthetics.

The Daytona pushers are a 2 piece construction  (no outer sleeve) and less robust in comparison.
They are similar to the other screwed down pusher designs on the older Omegas and TH. No doubt being smaller they look more proportionate. Being small and more delicate, repeated screwing and unscrewing of the pushers' locks will see the threads wearing out. Ask Donald..

I have seen and operate the chrono buttons. I applause the functional design but can't shake the feeling they look like 3 "tong besi".

The mushroom pusher look more legit to the eyes but asymmetrical layout of the sub dial is testing me. 

How I wish for a bold but timeless design.

The "stock photos" issued by Seiko website and brochures are normally very cartoon like and do not do justice to their watches. In terms of issuing promo materials, Seiko is really behind the Swiss. IMHO we should wait till we see some live photos or (better still) some real pieces before deciding..

You're spot on where GS stock photos are concerned...
The actual watch in most cases look far better in the metal..

Ok, I'll use tong besi to describe them from now on..
I agree and have mentioned many times that the Swiss, Germans and French will almost always come up with better designs but in terms of execution and details GS is a step ahead.. in its class of course.

Thought some hi-rez pictures (sourced from jap site oomiya) will show off the watch better than the lousy 2-D pictures supplied by Seiko. I reserve judgement until I get to see and hold it in the metal. I like what seems to be sapphire bezel. Sub-dial layout is similar to current chrono/gmt models but with double ring, so the dial is not much of a surprise. Prefer this mushroom pusher.
