Suggestion Needed - Budget RM1500
« on: December 05, 2013, 07:27:11 PM »
Dear Sifu,

I am hunting my watch for 2014.

I have few cheapo watches in my drawer, the most 'expensive' and 'presentable' is Orient Ray. So, try to avoid Diver style for my next watch.

Budget:
RM1500 (Prefer to buy from shop)

Manufacturer:
Real watch manufacturer. Prefer Swiss, OK with Japanese but NO fashion watch.

Movement:
Prefer mechanical / auto. But I could accept Quartz.

Diameter:
40mm and below. I have small wrist.

Design:
Any but NO digital or ana-digital.

Strap:
Leather or SS

------
I have a watch in my shortlist - Tissot PRC 200 Chrono. But I found the design is a bit boring and a colleague of mine already having it.

Any suggestions and comments are welcomed.

Thank you!!

I think the suggestions and recommendations will be more or less the same as this thread:

How about a Mido, some might be discounted to around rm1800 or so, looks classy and ahpek though, a very nice dinner watch.
Each handmade watch is sold with part of the watchmakers soul. The effort to make the watch perfectly flawless like a gem, takes a lot of the watchmakers concentration. You pay for the "Loving attention" they give to each movement and watch.

Mido has such low priced watches? I thought Mido is 5k and above.

Mind to share how much % discount usually can get from shop?
My experience with Seiko / Orient (below 1k), usually could get 20% and regular / lucky can get 30% from RRP.
But I have no idea with Swiss watches.

I've checked Visodate in some shops, its tagged at 2.2, and the best offer I could get is , still almost 1.9k  :(

Apart from the Tissot PRC range you indicated , perhaps a pre-owned Longines Hydro conquest if you don't mind a diver .

I personally like Certina models within that price range you stated. Do check it out with AD. Not many carry the brand thou.
