« on: November 01, 2013, 03:48:46 PM »
I saw an ad for a Gold Rolex at good price, apparently the shop is located at City Parade Centre Point KK. seeking any forum member could assist to verify the existance of the shop whether is con man. I called up the number and a Korean answer the phone. difficult to communicate with him with his Korean English.

Much appreciated.

If you saw the same ad I saw at the "easy" market site, best be careful. Prices of pieces offered seem too good to be true.

PM me the shop name and contact number.
City Parade is within walking distance from my office.
Would be happy to check whatever u need.
I would be surprised if the is a shop there that I don't know about but no matter.
Just PM me the details.

Yes, probably they try to look for easy money. Agreed that too good to be true, so just to re-confirm that since he claim has a shop in the shopping mall.

I believe Sabahan would recognize that place as "Centre Point" instead of City Parade

An update.

I called the number provided and spoke to a man.
He does not speak chinese.
Only english... and he sounds like a Korean or Japanese.

I asked about some watches that he posted.
He asked me which one am I interested in?
I said there is quite a few. I would like to view them if possible.
He asked for my location and I asked for his shop location.

He told me City Parade 1st floor.
Funny thing is there is no 1st floor in City Parade.
I ask for his shop's whereabouts... but the communication is going nowhere.
At last, I asked him to SMS me the Lot No and Name of his shop.
He did.

I asked a good friend who owns a shop there and asked him about the lot number.
He does not know of the lot number.
He's nice enough to accompany me to the management office and asks about the lot number.
Apparently it is non existent... So, I asked to check if there is a shop by the name that he SMSed me... Nope... No shop by that name.

I SMS the seller again and ask him to provide a more detailed description.
Where is the shop? Which floor? Close to any retail chains? Banks?
No reply...

So, I tapao duck rice, balik office and having late lunch while typing this.

An update... it seems that a friend of mine have been able to locate the shop.
It's quite weird that he seems to give different shop names to different ppl.
Vintage Sdn Bhd, Leong's Watches, Wai Watches... but the real shop's name is none of the 3...
Will chk it out again on Wednesday but the shop is quite well known among locals to sell stolen goods...

WOW..

No wonder he doesn't have a fixed address if selling stolen goods... probably will only sell to buyers known to him.

Looks like the same person(s) is using names of real watch dealers with shops and changing the name slightly. Address posted is usually the same as the real shop. Description of the person answering the phone appears to be the same as well. But the phone number does not match the real owners.

I spoke to the owner of one Kuching-based shop and he appears to be aware of this person. On the same online marketplace, there are also advertisements from Bintulu and he said quite a few people have been duped (unconfirmed by me if true).

To all sellers here, beware if your shop address is being used by con-artists. If a buyer is duped, he could lodge a police report and print the ad with your address on it. You will have a hard time explaining whether you really received the money.

This is a heads-up to members.

Avoid buying anything from the 'easy' site when seller is located in either Sarawak or Sabah
These are mostly conmen selling anything from musical instruments, pc, handphones to watches.
Most of the time at half the retail prices.
I recently encountered a similar seller (non watch seller) who claims to be from Penang.
Be careful!

FYI, there are genuine sellers from Sabah and Sarawak. Buyers just need to do due diligence.

I was once almost duped by a seller who claimed to be from Kuantan. One of the most common tactics they will employ if they find you really interested in the item is to tell you after a few SMS or calls is that there is another buyer wanting to look at it later in the morning/afternoon/evening and that they will hold it if you bank-in a deposit ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand.

look n check the posted photos and you will realized that the photos are stolen from other for sale ads.I have spoken to dpkong through the phone a few weeks ago concerning these con artist who always claimed that their shops are at remote part of borneo, bintulu etc. and also they speak with  a foreign accent. Don"t believe in all these to good to be true prices and you won"t get con. They are just after your down payment. Regards tony

Agreed. Not all but most especially when the price is heavily discounted.
Could be Nigerians in my opinion
