If between safari and panda... I would go panda... but that's just me.
You have to decide which one YOU like.

hanz,

I will let go the big pilot once i reach 25 post,  :Scolding: its too big for my wrist, thats why i am looking for a smaller something like my sub that i wear it daily.
If the 7 days big pilot ( if that is what you meant) is to big for you , then the Roo 44mm will also be too big for you. You seems to be undecided at the moment, you have to try it on to know if it fits well and if you really like that particular model. Get a use one , then you'll lose less when it has to make way for another.regards tony

My personal advice to potential ROO owners...

1. Try out the watch FIRST, especially if you have small wrists.

- Hornback is more rigid than rubber strap and most 42mm ROO can change to a rubber strap or calf leather which is gives a better fit instead of looking like a bangle.

- About 6.5" is the smallest I would say before it looks too big, unless of course your wrist is more flatter than it is round. I have 6.5" wrists and even with the XS rubber strap, I am between the 2nd and 3rd last hole depending on the weather.

2. Once your wrist can pull off a ROO, look at the various models which differentiate mainly on case material, dial and bezel.

- Decide if you want chrono or not. Non-chrono would narrow down your search to the Diver range.
- Find the dial you like best.
- Most 42mm ROO don't have display caseback except on some LE.
- Find a good deal!

3. LE editiions are always going to cost about 1.5 times more than normal ROO on the used market. Expect always to lose 10-20% if you are selling any ROO, regardless what everyone says.

4. If buying a used ROO at market price, always buy one with remaining AP warranty. Service will cost quite a bit so if buying out of warranty, factor in cost of one service.

Is the trade of 46mm big pilot to 42mm ROO, a real downsizing?

Wearing 42mm ROO is a bit like wearing 46-47mm watches, no?

I can say a very confortable watch, it hold stable on my wrist, not very heavy watch with large stripe.

i think it very depend on ur personal liking in which color combination works the best for you, but ROO will never go wrong no matter which

the best looking for me is the novelty carbon / gold

Agreed! me too....the carbon/gold combination.

Do you know how much for a complete service ? Sent to AD or outside watch shop ?

Piggyback type chronograph maintanace is more costly then pure chronograph movement as service center usually replace the used chrono module with a new one

I remember reading somewhere that AP ROO uses modular chrono movement (from JLC?) Perhaps they have changed into integrated movement now?

For the Royal Oak line, they're using a FP derived movement.
For the Offshore, a Dubuis Depraz piggyback chrono module on 3120 movement.

Anyone know how to identify a replica roo ?

The 1st thing to look out for if it's an ROO Chrono is the running seconds subdial.
Authentic should be the 12 o clock subdial while the replica is at 9 o clock.
This being the replica is always or mostly running on the 7750 clone.

Another thing is the subdial spacing.
The subdial space between the 9 o clock and 12 o clock is closer than the subdial space between 9 o clock and 6 o clock.

And of course, like they always say, you can copy the look but never the feel.
Quality can't be replicated.
Those who say super replicas are indistinguishable from the real deal just did not know what to look for.

Hanz, thats a revelation to me- The finer details.

There are fake APRO that I have seen. Really I can't tell the diff with naked eyes, though I am on fours.  It comes with the box, like original. I'll try to get some shots and post it here, if mod permits.

Its available in KL. A few grands apiece.
Friends of mine in big cars (not wis) rotate bet ori & fakes.

If you are posting a watch that you are not sure is a replica or not and wished to get some opinions, the mods MIGHT allow it.
If you are posting a watch that you know for sure is a fake for discussion sake, I would advice against it.
Thanks.
