Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue - what's your take?

Hi all,

I am smitten with the newly launched Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue - I love the style and the Blue colour.
However, the hefty retail price tag of RM14k is a real turnoff, considering that Tudor.
And more importantly, I am unsure whether I will still like its style after the novelty wear off in says, 2-3 years?
For discussion purpose, I would like to hear from my fellow friends here on what do you think of Tudor and this particular watch.

1. Do you own (or going to buy) any Tudor timepieces? If yes, which ones?
2. Back on the Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue, what do you think of the style - classy and long-lasting or it will be fashionable for a year or 2 before the novelty dies off (its grey and black brothers are selling at quite a discount to this new piece).
3. Is the retail price tag of RM14k fair and how well it can retain the value?

Let's take it as a fun discussion for the brand and this particular watch.

Normally a new and hot selling pcs like this hardly can get discount, just wait the heat to come down you will probably get some discount same like the 2 brothers.

1. I've owned 3. The Tudor Heritage Monte Carlo ( sold to upgrade to Rolex Explorer 2). The Tudor 9411/0 Snowflake (sold to upgrade to Rolex 14060). The Tudor Black Bay ( sold because not getting any wrist time due to a lack of a date indicator)
2. It will be lasting. It is basically a chrono and is not colored in a weird way. Everyone wants new watches and to be the first to wear them so chill out a bit and try again in a month or so.
3. Retail price at RM14k, well I always believe in discounts. As to whether it retains value...to be honest, the answer is a NO.

I had the grey dialed one for a while....sold it...personally i think its overhyped...value retainment - For tudor NO...better save up for a rolex.

1) Tudor designs generally do not interest me but this particular one caught my eye:

Will wait for this one to hit Malaysian shores.

2) A bit too colorfully bright for my taste. Overly colorful watches like these tend not to catch on I would think. You are correct in your own assessment IMHO that the novelty would wear off in a year or two.

3) Buy what you like and can afford. Please yourself and not others, after all it's your money! I personally do not put much weight on "resale value" (whatever that is when it comes to watches) in my purchasing decisions.

Tudor being a bro to Rolex, the watch quality is 

Accuracy 
Water AR 
SR 

Service center, parts support, resale value.... All above average if you compare with other watch brand

In fact Tudor hv better packaging than Rolex
It was packed with a nice specially made NATO

The bracelet double lock in fact come with new ceramic ball bearing

Price? If u want first hand... Paying premium or not getting discount then don't expect it can bring u profit when u sell

Pv as compare with similar range watches... It's on par and better in many aspect

The watch still speak to me every time I try it on.
But I shall exert some self control and will only buy it if it still speak to me after 1 year (or maybe 9 months)

Same for me, but then I look at my fast rider with three very obvious sub-dials and Tudor still decided to plaster 'chronograph' across the dial too. Hopefully their next model has the right balance.

To the OP, I also like the blue chrono, but I prefer the style of the Hamilton Pan Europ Blue LE. It somehow seems more balanced to me, without the expanse of white. All sold out now though.

Photos look superb .  Been googling images of the THC Blue for past few weeks...gorgeous looking piece...plenty of positive reviews too...
Havent gotten the chance to hold one yet but managed to take a close look at a black version yesterday...Lots of watch for that price tag...

But for the blue, I will still suggest making trips back and forth to the shop and trying it many times....and also not buying it at a non-discounted price...  Wait for the ooo-aaahh to die down first...That should be a better time, IMHO

However, as we always say when it come to toys for boys....the itch is yours...and only you know how to manage the itch...

Tudor watches are solid... servicing + parts and all easily available

if you don't mind a used one... can consider getting a used Tudor

I believe buying a new Tudor better than the other ETA based watches... at least you know you are buying a Rolex-saai lou

No, I have a weak mind when come to spending.
However, I do realise that if I do not control my buying habits now, I will end up with a huge hole in my pocket that require few years to recover. 
Gonna be more discipline and cost conscious when come to this high end hobby

There's a promotion by an AD at the Pavillion Centre Court now for the ranges that they carry, including Tudor. But prices for the sport models are firm, some discounts for their classic models. They also provide interest-free extended payment. Worth checking out if your attraction to the THC is still strong!

I have the new hertiage , it not bad actually and u have extra nato strap which is quite nice.

IMO RM14k for this watch is VERY expensive.  If you are worried about resale then buy lightly used - should be more like US$3k in near mint condition.

I personally find it odd to have a NATO strap as standard fitting for a RM14k watch. Does it come with alternative leather strap or metal bracelet "in the box" so to speak?

Value is what you see in it, if you are happy with it and you think it's a great buy, who are we to argue eh?

It does come with a metal bracelet (bracelet+NATO).
As per value, I will take the second hand price as benchmark in addition to emotional satisfaction
Anyway, thanks for all the input, I will KIV it and relook at it when it surface in secondary market or the retailers start giving out discount.

1 more question though. Can anyone comment on how good is this watch as a beater?
All rolex are known to be super resilient, how does tudor compared?

Derpends what you mean by "beat" and "super resilient".  Rolex isn't especially tough, just another mechanical watch, relativerly fragile compared to a decent quartz.  There's nothing magic or special about them.  Same as Tudor.

If by beating you're talking about a watch you can wear every day while doing the dishes, cooking a BBQ, swimming, etc, then Rolex or Tudor (or Seiko 5!) will be fine.  If you do a bit of downhill MTB (the worst beating to which my watches are subjected), for example, or other harsh activities, then you might kill a mechanical watch - better to buy a quartz beater for truly rigorous and stressful activities.

I would like to agree. But when you see newer and nicer upgrades, and the love for older one faded, the pain of low resale value will kick in

The blue on the dial looks kinda 'flat' as opposed to the current black and grey models, my 2cents. But like all those who chimed in, buy what you like as it's your money and YOLO! Cheers!
