I've previously ordered a G-Shock through an online store in SG and received it safe and sound - no additional tax..  :)

Buying online and importing into Malaysia, no tax in Malaysia, and if you buy from Spore, no GST too.. from Europe, no VAT.. ;D

Just curious..its seems like there is no tax for watch imported into malaysia?  Do merchants have to pay tax for watches brought into malaysia or do they have to pay sale tax?
Some merchants are posting a 'duty-free' sign at their shop. Do their price is lower compare to other? It can mislead customer making customer thinking only at their shop the watch are duty-free when all watches importefto malaysia is duty-free. Then again, it will be useless buying a watch from duty-free outlet at the airport. Correct me if I'm wrong.

All business need to pay income tax

No tax for selling watches in Msia .... It's misleading? Not really... Most countries hv tax... This sound attractive to foreigner...

Many watch shops in Msia put that sign, not just in air port

No tax for import watches into Malaysia. However, sometimes your watch may be retained in post office if you use courier service like USPS. In such case, you need to pay certain amount of money to get your watch out. Therefore, engage reputable courier service like FEDEX, though more expensive, but worth the price as they will always deliver goods to your door step on schedule without hassle.

Got tax for the watch box and watch winder, but no tax for the watch... If you want to buy watch box from the oversea seller and want to avoid paying tax, the trick is ask the seller to put el cheapo watch inside the watch box... I tried it once, and it works!  :Dancing_banana: :Dancing_banana: :Dancing_banana:

I have been getting watch straps from US using Fedex and being charged USD35 for shipping. However, no tax charges.

I ordered two watches from the UK in April and was called by the courier when they reached Malaysia, to ensure I would pay the tax.

Given UK tax at 20% had been deducted it was still a fair deal and I settled the bill COD.

Maybe if I'd had them shipped one at a time I'd have been ok, but I'd budget for being charged just in case.

I would not recommend purchasing a watch online.

They don't come with manufacturer warranties.

Often, they are dead stock or rejected stock and have huge blemishes. They can even be used second hand watches polished up and advertised as new.

Stick to local dealers or when visiting overseas there are loads of dealers who sell parallel imported watches but you can see the actual product and not take the risk of purchasing it through pictures. Besides, a lot of these online stores do not have a return policy.

Stay away or buy at your own risk. My 2 cents

Some of us have purchased online and were satisfied with the watches we received. It's all about the seller.

Granted, importing watches are tax free, but I can only accept buying on line if the watch is not too expensive. And you wouldn't mind if the watch they send you is fake or not as described on the net. Otherwise you are in a mess.  :Blue:
