Curious as to why my post was deleted
« on: August 02, 2013, 09:05:46 AM »
Made my 1st post last night to talk about a watch that I wanted to buy from an independent micro brand, but it needed more people to buy one before it was made. It seems to have been deleted though.

I am not selling anything was just hoping a few more people from the forum that would see it and order one - seeing as this is a watch forum - I figured it would be of interest.

Deleting it is one thing but how about someone telling me why and what was wrong with it. I am not selling the watch and have no affiliation with the brand. I posted in the watchuseek forum with no problem.

Look forward to someone telling me why.

Thanks

Did you post any offensive or foul language, promoting one AD or disclosing a price of a watch?

usually the MOD will give you a warning like what I have received.

But unfortunately in certain cases of mine they do not tell you exactly what went wrong.

perhaps certain rules have not been firmly in place.

I pity your grieve as you are trying to contribute your ideas and thought about watch compassion to this forum without expecting any return, but was taken out without any reason.

Likewise in a country when imposing law to curb unwanted message it will use its draconian law to oppress the people.

In this modern era people are not as gullible as those days, they demand for an answer. Without which they will not stop until they get the answer

Hi Yoda,

Thanks for that, as far as I can remember there was nothing offensive in the post, though I did post a link to the watch site and to the Facebook page - maybe that was why - though a little Draconian to delete the whole post without warning - maybe deleting the links and telling people to Google it may have been more in keeping with good sense.

This is a watch forum for people who are interested to talk about watches - which is exactly what I did - seems very strange to me that should be censored.

Oh well, if you want to google or facebook the watch which is very cool, btw, just type in Torsten Nagengast and the watch is a Challenger. If you email him he will reserve a limited edition (1 of 99) watch for you - you don't even have to pay for it yet.

If a mod wants to delete this - do me a favour and tell me 1st.
thanks

Dear jsj 11

you're most welcome as we have the same noble intention of sharing about watches.

just wonder if the MODs are suppose to be independent also in this case? I mean should they ought to pledge independence to the members also?

Should they be voted by the members like us?

Do they have a fix term in office?

Anyone out there including the MODs can provide some light?

Thanks an advance

Hi jsj11,

With regards to your post and to why it was deleted, I suspect it is to do with the fact that there was a link to a commercial site which is not allowed as per MWF rules and regulations. We have to appreciate that different forums have different rules and regulations. Don't think there was any intention to oppress anyone or any message by deleting the said thread. Hope that helps.

Best regards,

Hi Yoda,

To answer some of your questions, the forum is privately owned and the selection of the Mods is by the owner(s) of the forum. There is no fixed term of office as the owner(s) can select or remove mods as he wishes as we are not paid to do the job. We are here for the common love of horology and things associated to it. Hope this helps.

Fair enough, Mods. I wont post links anymore (though it makes everyone's lives easier if you could).

Just to make things clear.

We have all posted links to direct brands and even RRP of the watches which is fine since it known by all.

Just that when a the thread it self contains any form of sales soliciting. Being direct or indirect then this is usually not allowed.

We have discussed Thorsten's watches a few time here and we even have members owning his pieces.

We also have a section of the forum where members can post links specifically.

i can understand u feel offended when ur post is deleted without getting explanation

hope u also understand, let me quote u a situation - say a mod reading the post with his smart phone while waiting for a meeting to start, after deleting your post his boss arrived, meeting start.... so no time to pm u!
i myself a paid staff for another firm, not getting any pay for moderating mwf....

i hv experience reading mwf post in traffic light jam...

your post to voice ur unhappiness is allow to stay here... mods spending time to reply instead of delete this an ban u
(i get banned for questioning the owner and mod of a UK watch forum on his after sales service)
