Hassle of paying GST for online purchase

Hi guys. Anyone can shed some light on an online purchase of watch more than rm500?  What happens when it's it sent by post or courier onto Malaysia?  I heard FEDEX will pay gst on behalf and deliver to your doorstep and then claim back gst from you.

However the Seller said he doesn't have FedEx service and will send by EMS. EMS is linked to POS Malaysia. What happens and what is the procedure in relation to customs and gst?  Do I really have to go to KLIA?

Mind sharing you purchase from which site. What model and price. How much it cost u for tax and custom?

Hi Idris,

FYI, watches are not taxable as are automobile components etc. The only amount you have to pay at  the KLIA Customs  complex is 6% GST on the price of the watch as listed in the consignment note.

Yes thank you, I am aware that watches no need to pay import tax/excise duty (whatever you want to call it).  But if value more than RM500 need to pay 6% GST. Thanks anyway.

I bought SKX007 and 009 online and was not required for any GST.

i bought a steinhart gmt and fedex paid gst on my behalf and changed me when i received the package (otherwise they will not release it to you)

Went through this just recently. They'll ship the item to Pos Laju office near LCCT KLIA (not klia2). Once there you'll be asked to pay for import tax of 6%. When I was going through this I asked for a discount in the tax. There is a 'bilik pertimbangan' or discussion room where you will talk to the customs officer. The majority of the custom workers there are female... So I um, charmed my way to a higher discount

i feel that it actually be cheaper to buy overseas and claim GST refund there. My wife and I were bangkok and she got a pair of earrings. Got the GST refund at the airport.

as for customs.. everything can be nego if you are polite.. i was at LCCT to collect my coilovers ( which I told the shipper to put second hand) and got away with no paying..

yeap, if its from KLIA custom that require 6% gst.
