BTW, this would be a present from the elderly for my upcoming wedding.

I have choose Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day/Date - from my parents.

Now my in law is offering me RM1,500 so I got to play with budget, perhaps i could top up 500 - 1000 and get a good watch.

The Tissot is very much look like Pontos

tony, do u have any series recommendation on BALL?
I kind of like Engineer Master 2 diver series...but it is RM3k+

If you don't mind Japanese, then this is indeed a good choice, especially with Seiko's inhouse 6r15 calibre. If you wanted something more formal/dressy, check out their SARB mechanical series, price range will also be around the same as this Sumo. They are JDM, very well made.

I think these watches are alot more better value than the entry level Tissot or Oris.

Thanks all for the feedback and suggestions, and not forgotten the wishes!!  ;D

I think I will opt for a diver series.

I am using a pilot series on my day to day, parents will be giving me a elegance series, so in-law would be diver series...

I will go check out Seiko on their diver series..

MIDO is little over on my allocated budget I think..

For RM1500 to RM2000 you can get a very nice Tissot. For the sports model, the Tissot PRS 516 non-chronograph should be within your budget. Take a look at the Le Locle range too. Very nice design. Oris is mostly out of your budget and so is Ball. Maybe can find a pre-owned Oris below 2K.

Can u pls pm me the model? I really cant get which model u're saying.  :-* The cheapest i can get for an Oris & Ball is around 3k...most of the shop in Pxxxxg tends to ignore me when I tell them my budget for Oris & Ball is below 3k. :HammerHead:

Probably the lower range of Longines and Ball? Oris has some nice ones...but they are a bit more above the budget.

When I bought my BALL Fireman II, which is a discontinued model the recommended retail price was RM3900. That, as far as I know, was the cheapest BALL around. The salesperson who attended to me said that the lowest RRP for a current entry level BALL watch is above 4K. So, even with the best discount it is still way above your top limit of RM2000. The situation is also the same with ORIS. In my opinion, unless you 3K plus to spend forget this two brands. Look around a few shops on their selection of TISSOTs and SEIKOs and pick one you like. These two brands make good watches that are affordable.

just my own opinion arr...

my own justification would be:

anything below 1,000 get a nice Seiko, Citizen and etc

anything 1,000 to 2,000 get a nice Tissot and etc

anything 2,000 to 3,000 I don't know what to get, stucked.

anything 3,000 to 6,000 get a Tag, Oris, Longines and etc

anything 6,000 to 8,000 get an Omega, Tudor and etc

anything more than 8,000 don't buy anything, continue to save up and buy a Rolex.

rm2-3k can consider epos...hand wind and a decent 5.9mm thick.

epos' aqua terra wannabe.

ball also have their own aqua terra wannabe, but its more than double the price of epos, tho if anyone cares it is cosc spec.

The seiko prospex turtle is an excellent watch below 2k as well.
I love my sumo, my brother looks at it with envy cause the lug width is over 50 mm which makes it too big for him to wear.
