BONETTI AND MORELLATO

Have both, good value for money. Between the two, I personally would go for Morellato. I am guessing this is for the 5? IF so I suggest other brands.

Well you have our bro from Singapore. I think his strap is pretty good value for money. Have not bought any yet. You know my favourite strap maker from Taiwan, nice but not cheap. There are 2 in Malaysia (PM me if you want their contacts, but I have not bought from them).

The brands I use, other than the two brands you indicated are Wotancraft, TheWatchBoys, Banda, DaLuca and Panerai Original.

Assuming "5" is a PAM005, you'll be spoiled for choice!

I've had my fair share of different straps with different prices. My take is that if you have already spent, say, RM10K+ for a watch, try not to skim on the strap. Straps can range from RM50-RM5K and owning a few quality straps is always better than a ton of "buy-n-tuck-away" straps. I know I have a few of those initially  ;D Ultimately, it all depends on your budget?

Some high quality straps may even last longer than the both of us  ;) In the event, you would like to let it go sometime down the road( provided the condition is not too shabby) it will still have value in the secondary market.

Too bad, the earlier request for a pinned strap thread was not pinned. Else, I'm sure a lot of folks here can chip in some pics and share our thoughts there.

Some good strap makers: Simona Di Stefano, Ted Su, Gunny, ABP, HK Tan, Dirk and a whole lot more.

Btw, "value-for-money" lies in the eye of the beholder. If you're happy, then go for it

Bro Hobbit, 2 Malaysian strapmakers? I counted only 1. Please enlighten me

if i not wrong normally is 20mm right? any of your having 22MM or is it 22mm is a common?
because i found the size for 22 and 24 is very less and not much choices.

You'll be surprised to find that tommy's straps are mostly sold out..  :-[

Halcyon after sales service not that good. bought a strap from him before but the keeper came "cracked". Wrote to him about it but a reply never came.

Unlike Ted Su and Heroic18 whose service are excellent.

Bought a dive strap from Ted but needed more holes to be punched. Wrote to him that I will send it back to him to have it done. He said no need and subsequently sent another set of set with an extra hole. But it was still too long and I am too pai seh to tell him. Scared he would sent another set of straps  :D . So ended up with 2 sets of unworn dive strap

The threads on my Heroic18 strap came loose after 2 wearing. E-mailed them the photo and told them I would sent it back for their inspection. Again I was told there was no need of such and sent me a replacement.

terrenceterrence,

I know how you feel. Some strap maker are more serious or dedicated than others. I have some strap makers that make good if not great straps but are not really serious in what they are doing. Perhaps age or the lack of age is to be blamed. I know of one who makes nice straps but is just not very reliable. Does it when he wants and is slacking most of the time. Oh well.......

Have not seen Ted's straps but I heard it is good. So far have 'tested' Wotancraft, Banda, Morellato, DaLuca and OEM. Will report on Simona, Chriz (our S'pore bro) and Cheergiant once I get them.

I do know that Dirk, ABP and KevinAdeeos is awesome. Perhaps one day.....

Received my first strap from Simona. Its the latest green sharkie and oh boy how i love the look and feel of it. Makes me wonder how does the rest wears especially Dirk straps since Zameen and other loyal paneristi ranked it 1st among others. I guess i need to buy myself a base model  :Praying: then buy me a Dirk to matched it with.  8)

Anyway I got myself a Simona as well, the Alcatraz (limited edition no less). Have to say that while it is very comfortable, I am less then impressed with the overall build. Photographs to follow....

Some would argue that those "imperfections" are a mark of a truly handmade product.

But come to think of it, others have much more superior made ones.

With the boom of PAM and the strap craze worldwide, more and more just got into this biz and sell at high price, and some might think high price=quality.

Still consider myself lucky that i am not too much into PAM and straps  :Laughing_on_floor:

OEM strap actually not that expensive. Some independent can cost just as much if not more. I agree that the OEM strap is comfortable but some of them are really thin. I like my straps thick and tough. Just got the Heroic18 strap. I like it plenty. Tough and I am sure it will patina as well.

James does not have an equivalent product as per Donald (from what I have seen). But in terms of overall quality and finish, I will still go with James. I have one of James Swiss Ammo and I have to say it is one of my favourite straps. It is thick and 'brutal'. Very tough and you can feel it. I like Donald's choice of leather and colour, perhaps he is a bigger outfit or has more resources at his disposal. I know that James have limited resources and limited access to quality leather.

Well the next person to check out is George Lam and Ted Su. I have seen Ted's straps and they do look good. Have not tried them on personally. Will report more once I use them.
