aug 2009 i bought a hamilton 921 pocket watch, thought of converting it to a wristwatch.... because i love the 921 movement design very very much!

but the condition of this pocket watch is sooooo good, so i decided to keep it, below is the link to the thread i posted last time

after fell in love with the level of finishing for this US made pocket watch.... i decided to buy more...
yeap, hamiltan 921, 923 n 917.... was produced in US while US watch industry at its peak.... the polishing, gold chaton..... not many modern movement can match it....

so i acquired another 1 hamilton 917 and 921

the threesome

but the 2nd hamilton 921 i received, the dial, hands and case was not in gd condition(u can see that on the above photo left bottom piece), so my idea of converting it to wristwatch arise again

after mths of survey, i ordered a good german made quality case from Kemmer, a german watchmaker who selling his own brand of watches now...
hands and dial following....

the i handed it to my regular watchmaker.... problems after problems.... hands not fit, winding stem not fit to crown, dial opening for second hand not right..... bla bla bla.... months passed....

finally i got it done 2 days ago

side by side with my hamilton 917 n 921

just went out with peter for dinner and bought a new strap for it, so here u go....

42mm 316 stainless steel case, screw in bezel, screw in caseback
ar coated sapphire crystal
mineral caseback
22mm lugs width

the newly serviced movement is lovely

beside its brother

Dunno how long it last
but a normal pocket watch after service should last for at least 38 hours

Really love the Breguet hands and the nicely finished Hamilton movement.
Well done. So you're definitely the MWF's in-house Guru when it comes to project watches.

So how did you finally resolve the issues that you faced in this project? Did you watchmaker modify the parts to fit the movement or did you simply ordered new parts to replace the ones which did not match the Hamilton?

a lot of discussion with my watchmaker, taking some risks actually, The cannon pinnon is modified to fit the hands, first set of hands actually spoiled during earlier modification.... Dial opening for second hand also modified, no room for error, otherwise got to search n order again, money n time wasted... Winding stem also same... Bla bla bla... long story

Yes... Big risk especially come to buying the vintage pieces
Not easy to buy good quality piece...

N thanks all for the kind words... Yes. I still live the watch very much... It's hard to find a simple finely finish movement at this price now
