lovely Liquidmetal PO colour and design…….
I recently sold 3 Omegas, a SMP, PO Chronograph & a Speedy because I wanted to switch over to the new Liquidmetal models with the new 8500/9300 calibres incorporating the Si escapement.
To me, one of Omega's weakness is that their watch case & bracelets scratch quite easily. Perhaps its the quality of their steel. For me, the SMP steel bracelet design is one of the most beautifully designed bracelets bar none but it scratches ever so easily and it looks terrible in that condition.
Can anyone share why the Liquidmetal is used only for the bezel whereas the rest of watch will continue to scratch easily.
Is it cost or is it a technological barrier to use Liquidmetal for cases, bracelets or are they worried that the watch will remain ever scratchless that their future sales as well as after sales service for restorations will be affected.
Too bad the design & movements of the Chanel J or Rado ceramic watches are not my cup of tea but I wish their material technology could be replicated by the other manufactures..
