Hi,
I had originally intended to & commented in the post of this Fri gathering.
I work in golden triangle in KL and working till 8pm is normal.
Furthermore on Friday nights, the road in front of my office is very massively jammed. Will take me at least 1.5 hrs to reach MV.
I can try to leave by 7+ but will only reach MV after 8.30 or so. No point if you guys plan to leave by 9pm..

You guys said that you won't be there long..

hi fellow GO fan,
would love to hook up with you on one of these weekends and chat watches & German military…
I love Teutonic engineering…cameras, cars, watches,etc..
Congrats on the new GO
Why don't you join us for this Friday gtg?

hi,
zeetan has one I think..
Was checking out the Evolution Sport last time
This Perp Cal has been on my radar for last few years…just couldn't bring myself to pay that much for the Perpetual initially but
well…..getting older and life is short.. so what the heck..
I have a few other GOs on my wishlist still

Cool watch and incidentally, I was just checking out the evo sport this morning and now u have to go stroking the fire

yeah that one was sold.. unfortunately.

but now looking seriously and considering at the pretty Patravi Travelgraph. Since I already own one AD's watch might as well go for one from it's rival.

If it jumps from 30th to 1st in months of 30 days chances are it will jump from Feb 29th to 1st. :)

A Perpetual Calendar does that. This GO's Perpetual Calendar is set to be correct until 2100…... :Startled: I wont be around by then…..

If it doesn't then its a triple date which is like my JLC Master Moon or like the Speedmaster triple date, etc.
Too bad I could only find it now..missed staying up to see 29th Feb jumping over to 1st March..
Have to wait another 4 years….

Does it jump from feb 29th (leap year) or 29th to march 1st? Or is it manual set?

I've seen a friend's Perpetual at work from Feb to March at midnight, a long time back.
It is programmed until 2100… I think all Perpetuals are designed that way.
Thats why they are so expensive and also a killer to service (I heard its very close to 5 figures a service)
It will take into account 30,31 days as well as 28/29 days in Feb . Thats why you see the leap year indicator 1,2,3,L (Leap year) in ALL perpetuals.. Not all manufactures have perpetuals.. Some 'manufactures' do not have the tech so they outsource to Dubois Dupraz/Christophe Claret/ Renaud & Papi.

In the GO the 1,2,3 Leap Year dial is between 10pm & 2pm. The manual clearly says the watch is programmed until 2100 and it needs to be re-programmed after that.. but I'll be dead by then..

Hi danny,
No, not at all, thank you.
Glad you find this GO to your liking too...
Yea..took early Sat morning flight in, covered all the major malls till my feet had blisters.
Skipped dinner as rushing back to airport for evening flight back to bolehland.
Reached home after midnight...didn't have anything to eat since lunch...
Read the manual to set the Perpetual, changed the strap, played with it for an hour or two till 6am Sunday...
awake and active for blinking 24 hours since 6am Sat morning.

Slept the whole of the day till after lunch...

Yea on top of the GO, my good buddy poisoned me to buy a TUMI male sling bag too... all monogrammed with my initials...the last time I bought a bag for myself was >10 yrs ago..hope I dont get the bag buying mania after this....a Bottega Veneta perhaps ?

Satisfied...crazy but one of my most enjoyable and memorable shopping trips...

Hope I'm not too late to congratulate you on your latest acquisition.
What a beauty!

Thank you all for your kind words & well wishes..I didn't know buying a watch could elicit such response…

Instead of taking too much space quoting each of you, I'll just summarise here..

When I went to our neigbouring country, I was only aware of the biggest AD who had stock of both the stainless steel and ceramic GO Perpetual. Unfortunately whilst I was targeting the ceramic, it was 2 mm smaller than the SS and I didn't quite like the look of the hands.. besides it was close to RM 18K (net price mind you) :Startled: more just because of the ceramic case. The Sales Mgr also dissuaded me from buying the ceramic but thats beside the point.
After visiting all the GO ADs there was only 1 other shop that carried the GO Perp. So I bought from the 2nd shop as he gave me a better price.

Everlasting joy is very relative…I guess based on the damage to my pocket , I'd better be in love with it a bit longer than my other watches…

Regarding winders, I have 2 Orbitas but I do not leave my watches on them permanently. I let the winder run overnight once every fortnight and then shut it down.
The great thing abt the GO Perp is that there are separate push buttons for day, date, month, moonphase. Once the calendar is set correctly, in the event the watch is left not running and it is days/weeks behind, there is 1 master button that advances all the 4 items at the same time so you only need to advance the master button, not all the 4 individual buttons.

Real WIS spirit??… my wife begs to differ …she says I'm a lunatic..foregoing meals, flying up and down within a few hours.. being up 24 hrs non-stop...all for a watch… a piece of metal that happens to tell time….
who am I to argue...

Thank you for your wishes..

I sold around 10 of my older watches as they were no longer being worn for a long while.
I made a 2012 resolution to reduce the number of watches down from 20+ to between 8-10 by mid 2012. To keep only those watches that were truly special to me in terms of complication, finishing, accuracy and less common in terms of calibres as they had to be in-house movements from true manufactures...have managed to sell off all my ETA based watches the last few months.

Selling 10 watches contributed only half the cost of this 1 watch….coz I lost between 40-60% of the cost I paid for those watches when new..
Well I learnt my lesson of buying impulsively the very painful way...
