moon watch
« on: November 14, 2011, 07:23:32 PM »
Hi,

am thinking of getting a pre owned moon watch for my old man.

He likes omega brand and always watching Nasa online streams, the moon watch seems to be perfect for him.

But I don't know if there is any particular reference is more credible than others, can anyone expert in this help me out please?

Not really looking for limited edition or rare pieces, just a good one, under 5k (is it possible?)

I understand the moon watch is the manual winding one with the hesalite crystal. What about those with the automatic movement and sapphire crystals? Can they be considered as the moon watch or just speedmaster?

The modern Moonwatch is the Speedmaster Professional is a manual wind 42mm is either equipped with the cal. 1821 or 1823 for the acrylic crystal + solid case back and sapphire sandwich respectively. These are the 2 most common variants. So many different permutations to list.

The Speedy Auto Reduced is 7750 based and can be had cheaply.

Like CK said a good Speedmaster Pro is around +-RM 6K

+1

Thanks for all your replies, can I say that the cal. models are more respected than eta models?

+-6k seems reasonable, but does it normally come with papers? and not from grey/black source?

The only moon watch I like, got to be this one, but quite pricey

Ah, the Galaxy Express 999 version with Reiji Matsumoto signature. Indeed a nice watch and even nicer cartoon. The face on the case back is the face of Maetel.
