We wear many watches for the one occasion we deemed appropriate (in our opinion).

sshark,
It is not for 1 occassion but "for the one occassion we deemed approriate."
Meaning for examples, for scuba diving/snorkelling/swimming wear a Divers watch; for extreme sports/rock climbing/mountaineering wear a "tough nut to crack" watch like the Casio G-shock; for black top dinner wear a Dress watch; and for playing sports game, wear a Sport watch etc.

I think it is correct on all the 2 pts. Never an investment, never dictated by others. I tend to think well established brands do have better resale value and can easily be traded. Except for afew, I do feel that Rolex is quite robust and easier to maintain.

Equally correct is different watch for different occasion. I keep a casio for my gym n jogging though I have some that cost many times over. I have taken my casio on my adventures and outing. Then I keep a tag carrera for daily used, mostly when I am out late, no issue of robbery. Come to think of it, my prized watches are mothball most of the time. I still try to wear it once a week on rotation. There's the irony; something well made and built but seldom used.

I dunno bout you guys.
But I wear my 16570 Noir ExpII daily rain or shine.
Now I passed it to my wife, she's wearing it all the time too.
Now I am on my year 1996 Sub that I got back from service.
Wear it everyday as well rain or shine.

If there's a formal event or dinner to attend, I wear my Zenith Chronomaster Open.
The watch that does not get worn often is my Omega Co-Axial Blue Bond.
