new Longines Master-Retrograde+ moonphase
« on: April 15, 2011, 04:59:37 PM »
After my Sinn U1 and another recent purchase (to be revealed later...hehehehe)

Been eyeing a moonphase and 2nd time zone watch  , mostly affordable Swiss pieces- Oris, Ball, Longines..
If not mistaken, only Oris have a model with both features...Ball and Longines only have moonphase+24hr display..

Also, always impressed by Longines Master Retrograde....the retro seconds movement, the 2nd time zone displayed in linear on the left hand side... but the price too high for me..

and then i saw this....looks like new releases from Longines.....the moonphase is now incorporated into the Retrograde series....

looks nice....

http://acejewelers.wordpress.com/2011/03/27/baselworld-2011-preview-longines-the-master-collection-retrograde-moon-phases/

and more interestingly, there is speculation that the price is cheaper...of course there's a few modifications here and there..the Arabic numericals is replaced by Romans (sadly), less number of pushers.

But i cant see logic of it being cheaper though..this looks like new movement...moonphase + 4 retrogrades + day.night indicator....? Sifus, correct me if i am wrong..

Interesting watch but prefer the old one as adjustments is easier with the push buttons. The new watch is nice but a tad busy for me. Also the new 'buttons' looks like an after thought. Will need a special tool (like a pen) to do the adjustment. More things to loose.

Wow... if this one really end up costing around 10k... It will sell like hot cakes.
Thanks for sharing the info bro.

Nope but I have seen the watch before. It is a nice watch with a movement exclusive to Longines.

hanz: yeah...hoping the real watch will look nice and price not too high...

ck77: hahaha..already got divers, now looking either into aviation or dress (with complications).....if you like power-reserve, i think one of the Longines Retrograde has PRD instead of jumping seconds...

hobbit: yeah..the seconds movement is mesmerizing...

Sorry to revive this old thread.
Just an update.
I was shopping with my mom coz I promised her a watch after I gave my Dad an ExpII.
Thank god after an hour visiting 2 ADs, she locked on a Longines Prima Luna quartz... still a dent on my wallet though...
But most importantly, I got to molest the ne Master Collection Retrograde without moonphase 44mm...
I understand that there are 40mm sized ones...
All I can say is the watch is beautiful.
The retrograde seconds is fun to watch in action.
Most of all is the price... retail at rm10700 on leather strap and deployant!!
Which is alot of watch for the money.

thanks for news bro...the one you saw...no moonphase? so what are the complications?
so the price is `lower' than the previous generation of retrograde series? they changed the pusher buttons right?

The one I saw has 4 retrogrades...
GMT time, Date, Day and Seconds.
Same like picture 1 that you posted.
But the numerals are roman now.
Pushers are more integrated in the case which needs a pen or so to push.
Two on the right side and one on the left.
Price wise, yes it is cheaper than the previous generation.
I believe the previous Master Collection 4 retrograde RRP at 15k before discount.
It is now 10k+ before discount which I believe is a good buy for the complications that comes with the watch.
