Buying Rolex watch
« on: November 03, 2014, 02:24:40 PM »
Hi to all watch expert, i'm new member here. I'm planning to get a rolex explorer 1 or 2. Can anyone here recommend me any good shop to buy rolex in Damansara or somewhere near to Damansara area with good discount and customer service. Normally, how much discount we can get at the shop? Anything that i need to take note when i buy the watch? What is the current price for this 2 model now? Thanks in advance!

Hi

You won't get direct answers to some of your questions here.  MWF doesn't allow discussion of price or discounts.
My personal advice is spend some time to do your homework.  Buying your first rolex something memorable and the hunt is half the fun.

-Check the MWF For Sale section to get an idea of pricing.  Both members and merchant pages.  Pm them for best price.
-Do check the MWF Watch Shop section too too.  IF you're in KL, drop by the watch shop during the weekend.  plenty of things to learn.

All the best in your hunt.

And remember the golden rule if you are buying pre-owned....buy the seller!

It would be a good experience to visit the ADs to get your first Rolex. But don't expect to get good prices compared with what the merchants in this forum can offer. For popular SS sports models, there might not be many models to choose from either.. Good luck!

Generally, it is always advisable to buy your first serious watch via an AD. This give you a peace of mind and years of comfort.

After getting the 'hang' of it, then slowly explore into the preowned market thats take off the load should you need to add more time pieces to your collections.

It may be a long way down the road after you gets hold of your 'first' rollie.

Good luck and happy hunting

Reviving the thread (and not sure if there's already one) but I'm considering between the GMT 2 vs GMT 2 Batman vs the Deep Sea. Any takes on these two watches?

Would you pay a few grand more for the blue? Does the Deep Sea look odd with it's tapered bracelet/strap?

I'm torn.

i would prefer the batman gmt if i got the money..the gmt also sits flatter on your wrist than a submariner or deepsea which i prefer(due to the flat caseback on gmt)

i would suggest u to go to the AD to try and feel on your wrist

Was at an AD yesterday. No sport models around. Was told that there's no official announcement from Rolex. But they expect an increase of between 15% or more.

Was shopping around at few ADs around KL for a GMT2 and was told the same as well. Circa 15% increase and no stock for the base rollies anywhere!  :-[

15% is a lot of $$$.  I'm thinking to get a GMT Batman after bonus..  Dunno how much RRP after the price increased.

Every years they keep telling me the price will increase, maybe it's their strategy to boost up the sale. Price hike is inevitable as long there is a demand. So we the one that hike the price up. :Laughing_on_floor:
