Luminox Chrono
« on: July 06, 2014, 11:37:11 AM »
Hi, was about to buy a Luminox 3081 BO until i saw the chrono second hand doesn't really alignment with marker when i play with it. It's like instead of going 24 then 25 sec, its 24.5 sec then 26.5 sec.
I reject it and ask the AD to order one for me with the right alignment b4 sending.
On my way out I saw quite a few other series's Luminox second hand marker also off. They are quartz but they are SWISS.  :Blue:

IS this normal?  Thanks in advance  :D

I will share my personal experience with quartz Tag Heuer. My missus Aquaracer has second hand that does not aligned to the marker. Mind u, it cost rm13k when i bought it but then the high price maybe due to the diamonds. Its still holds the Rhonda based quartz movement in standard Aquaracer. My fren did went back to the service centre to enquire about this and was told its normal for Tag quartz watches. Guess its like u take it as it is. The service man does mentioned that 'higher end' quartz like Omega or Breitling will have aligned second hand to the marker
markers. Haven't checked on this statement yet, though.

Sorry to hear about your >10k watch with alignment problem. I think when it carried SWISS heritage should do alot better than a RM300 seiko. ( no disrespect to Seiko but they produce good precise watch and cheap of cos . GS suggest otherwise.) Is that why Swiss is all about automatic? cos they can't make quartz second hand dead-on to the marker?

After having gone thru some forums I notice Luminox does have problems with alignment, luckily i choose brick and mortar shop to inspect them instead of order on-line with a lot cheaper price, easier warranty claim too (hope not utilise it) oh well..won't want having a stop watch then can't tell it's 26 or 27 sec when it showed 26.5 sec. lol.

hi. I do have 2 Luminox but not the crono. They using Ronda. Yes, Their second hand not really aligned with the marker. I try pull the crown to second click to stop that watch and reset, it doesn;t works , so I live with it  :D

But different to the Tag Heuer F1 Chrono and Certina DS Action chrono, I could tell their second hand more aligned to the marker. They use ETA G10.711. But from my experience, ETA quartz does not last long.

I also heard the salesman at one AD tell the customer that manufacturer couldn't make the quartz movement running second hand moving perfectly on the marker each time it tick. I think all they have to do is, put an extra effort while assembling the second hand, put it right on the marker. so it will be aligned with the marker.

what about the thermocompensated quartz from Breitling? Their superquartz movement.  Are their second hand move perfectly?

Yes, I had the Certina with ETA G10.711 too and would second that the second hand was aligned to the marker. Can't comment on the longevity as it's still new. Cheers.
