Watch Service/Calibration

First of all, sorry if this question has been popped up before by others. I try to read the few pages but can't find anything on it.

1) When do we need to send out watch for service? Is it a routine / annual thing to do? Or only when we find something amiss with the watch?

2) Is service & calibration the same job?

3) My Omega Seamaster's power reserve according to the product brochure information is 55 hours power reserve. But i've tried several occasions to test the watch power reserve, but it's only like 38~42 hours. So do it means that there is something wrong with my watch power reserve mechanical?

4) Is it better to send back the watch to the original respective Service Center? i.e my case is send back to Omega SC in Jln Raja Chulan. Or there is other equivalent / better shop that do it outside at a cheaper rate?

I'll share my own experience for you to draw your own conclusions.

Previously I had a Planet Ocean Co-axial chrono-Cal 3313 for abt 5 yrs.
After the 4th yr I noticed that the watch would stop after being left overnight. Accuracy was still within COSC, though no longer within +2 secs/day when new.

Sent in to SWATCH @ Goldhill. Cost RM 1,600 for complete service. They returned all the parts which included all the hands, crown & 2 pushers, the barrel & mainspring, the co-axial escapement, a few pinion gears and a full case polish. The watch had been used for scuba activities over the years so was subject to knocks, seawater and all kinds of harsh use.

Totally satisfied with the service. Ran v. accurately and looked new.
I sold the watch shortly after with the 1 yr factory service warranty, as I got tired of the orange look after 5 yrs.

Yes. It would last at least 2 days after being taken off on Fri night.
