Did the Authorised dealer / service center provide a confirm date to Pick Up once you send in the watches?

Yes, I am informed that exactly when my watch would be ready to pickup
No, I would be given an estimated waiting period and they would inform me once it is ready to pickup

one watch sifu told me that i only need to service my watch when it stops moving.

rsc told me that i need to service every 5-7 years.

who to believe ah

I always believe prevention is better than cure.

most swiss quartz watches are advise to change battery every 2 yrs.
battery will leak after 2 yrs... the chemical leak from battery will damage the movement.

Quartz watch are not cheaper because my wife ebel bought in 1999 changing
was only rm30 at hg and others. In 2010 changing bat.. cost rm100 to rm120
now the watch change new bat..... last a few months only. Last went to ebel
ebel centre in kl, the technician say it very old movement not worth repair.
Ask other watch service can around rm700 - rm1000  the watch bought for rm1200
with a 5 years warranty repair one time under warranty change circuit board at LV
service centre.

any idea how much it will cost to send in e.g. a sub to RSC for regular service?
RM1800... I am not too sure if prices went up or not...

It's now RM2,120 for a regular service for a Sub, without replacing any "major" parts. Comes with a complimentary polish and a customary green Rolex pouch and cleaning cloth. They accept credit cards without surcharge.

wow, really not cheap to maintain a ROLEX ... RM2,210 easily 10% of the market value or more for the Sub. My goodness ... so those who are saving to buy a ROLEX or pre-owned, make sure you know the cost involved for the maintainenace as well

My 1601 stop sent to rsc in 1998 they qoute estimate rm 5000plus
At that time maintaining service was rm1250
My sent to third party service cost me rm400, part change/returned to me
the winding spring broken to 3 parts.

I personally would always sent to the authorized service centre. I would rather have that peace of mind the parts being replaced are original. Sure other independant service centre may be cheap at least 50%, but I will always have this nagging feeling of "ori or not"?

As for the frequency of servicing, my Rolex 16233 was previously serviced in Singapore way back in 2000 after that it was serviced again at Wisma Dion sometime Sept 2013. Cost me 1950 to overhauled it plus replacement of a new crown (as my old crown has a dent on it) + the usual polishing. Hey!! not bad after 13 years of usage. Can surely last for another 10 years ++. My Rolex 116613LB would probably run for the next 5 years before its due for servicing. Now it all depends if the owner can last that long...  :Praying:

Oh, when they checked my watch, they verbally informed me that my last service was done in Singapore in 2000. Impressive.

Peace...

You want to send the watch back for service before the warranty is over it would not cover full service.
Knowing there is lubrication and all inside, close to the warranty expiry date, go and use a hair dryer and blow the case back until hot, then you compare the timing with your clock and see if it deviates or stops before the power reserve is up. Don't put it in the oven because that will melt the seals, hair dryer shouldn't be hot enough for that. :Laughing_on_floor:
Or you can also rub a really strong magnet to magnetize it, then the timing will run. Complain and get full service.  :-X
Each handmade watch is sold with part of the watchmakers soul. The effort to make the watch perfectly flawless like a gem, takes a lot of the watchmakers concentration. You pay for the "Loving attention" they give to each movement and watch.
