Haha. Then I guess you are one of the lucky ones. Major barrier for me (when it comes to purchasing watches) is the Home Minister. Extremely difficult to obtain approval. 

If your surplus permits, always buy one for your the other half, be it a nice watch or some blings2. Tell her your passions are not on wine, women and song but on nice watches. Trust us, most of us do it and she will understand.....

What about 'emotional' investment? I bought a watch when my child was born. I wear the watch everyday, and one day, when she is old enough, I will pass on that watch to her. Hopefully, when I am no longer around, the watch will remind her of me and the good times we have shared.

If you are content with 1-4 watches (mean having 1-4 children), why not?
But most of us here have, or going to have far more than that
