Which watch to buy (again)?
« on: September 13, 2012, 04:00:53 PM »
Guys,

SG *** has a promotion now. rebate of xxx of the price of a timepiece or xxx whichever is lower.

I lack a rose gold dress watch in my collection and may want to make use of this promotion to get one watch.

I've a few options but is unsure of which to get?

1. Harry Winston Midnight Big Date - 3 days PR, automatic, F.Piguet movement, 42mm
http://www.harrywinston.com/store/timepieces/midnight/midnight-big-date/products/harry-winston-big-date-in-rose-gold-black-dial

2. H.Moser Monard Date - Manual winding, 8 days PR, 40.8mm
http://www.h-moser.com/en/ref/monard_date/342.502-006.php

3. Jacquet Droz Majestic Beijing Grande Date - automatic, enamel dial, 43mm, 65 hrs PR
http://www.jaquetdroz.com/#/?NumProduit=180&NumLangue=2

I've not checked out the prices for Moser and JD but it should be cheaper than HW i reckon.

hi,

werent you comparing the last time between a HW and a JLC ?

If money and bang for the buck is not your main criteria, then my choice would be ;
HW, JD, Moser...

IMHO I'd go for Moser only if the movt is my priority but for a gold dress watch, the look is as impt if not more impt, assuming the movt is not a cheap ETA/Sellita.
JD's selling point is their exquisite lacquer/enamel/semi-precious stone dials which is quite unique although they use 3rd party quality movts

From what I remember handling HW, JD but not Moser, the HW's finishing is better than JD ..correct me if I'm wrong..

Personal taste and preferences evolve over years, hopefully not 1 full circle otherwise it means we haven't learnt a single thing.

Moser for me.

There are more attractive HW watches like the one with the alarm function.
That HW is just too much empty space on the dial.

As for JD i think should go for their signature enamel dial ones.

I bought a JLC Navy Seal Alarm 2 weeks ago that's why JLC is not in the list of consideration now. I'm a one watch per brand kinda guy...

Moser for me. Superb in house movement in a case that's pure class. What's not to love.

Yeah Moser among the 3 as well. HW is good but not this particular model.

I will go for Lange 1 if you want to look for a very nice dress watch.
I am broke but I am happy...
