The LIST...wanna do it?
« on: November 13, 2012, 12:48:47 AM »

All this while, I have a rough idea of watches which I hope to own. However, this is the first time I am going to actually list them down on`paper'. Will I regret the move...let's see how it develops.

a. Except for the bling-bling pieces and the Yatchmaster II...I genuinely like Rolex watches.
b. Some may call it plain and predictable...but I honestly like them.
c. For someone who has dabbled in watches since 2001...I am exposed to (even bought and sold) many other brands yet I just want to have more Rolex(s).

d. Money don't grow on trees for me...but I hope/plan to acquire the following (no particular order, just based on grouping)

Group 1
Submariner Black Ceramic
Submariner Hulk
Submariner Kermit

Group 2
Submariner Black Bicolor
Submariner Slate Bicolor
Submariner Blue Face WG

Group 3
Yachtmaster
Yachtmaster Blue Face

Group 4
GMT Master II Pepsi
Datejust II
Milgauss (model not decided)

* just model name, not having each model number or variation...phew!
* Once the 4 groups completed, then maybe a Daytona (coz date is more important than a chronograph to me)

All the above watches will come up to more than RM250k. What about watches from other houses which I like?

Group 1
Tangente - Nomos
Reverso Sun Moon - Jeager-LeCoultre

Group II
Patek Phillippe
Lange & Sohne
*a dress watch from each, given their price why bother determining the model now as the Rolex list is not fulfilled... :D

STOP!!!...having read what I have typed, I find that this exercise is getting painful - emotionally (if it is unfulfilled) and obviously to the wallet.

You guys wanna try with your own LIST or already have wriitten down one in secret?  A pleasureable yet painful experience if you were to ask me. Good to have it out finally but is it realistic and achievable?

Cheers!!!

In a very twisted way, the whole exercise is rather therapeutic...I now know that there is a number to my list...mine is 15.

I don't have groupings. Not necessarily in any order.
An AP RO would be nice.
Rolex GMT Master I or II or ceramic also can, to complement my 2 rollies.
A nice simple enamel dial Breguet, time only, clean dial.
A Panerai 249, to relive the California dial.
GO Senator Navigator for it's finishing on the movement and nice clean Pilot dial.

Better stop dreaming now and sort out other priorities in life now. LOL.

1) Rolex Deepsea 44mm
2) IWC Big Pilot
3) Panerai PAM 422 or 423
4) Panerai PAM 305
5) One of those special order custom Vacheron Constantin/Bouvet/Patek Phillipe or other high end manufacture watches that feature incredibly ingenious x-rated scenes (that will render the owner and his friends blind over time) both on the dial and in the back - they cost a few million RM at the least; and yes, they do exist - just google them. Warning links will be NSFW, you been warned.

i like variety in my collection and i've been working towards achieving it. After 2 consolidation exercises, i've narrowed to the pieces that will put a smile on my face whenever i see them in my watch box.

My criteria is simple:

1. Automatic movement - don't like manual winding
2. Must have date
3. Must have lume so that i can tell time at night
4. Watch must have a rich history (i like to think that i own a part of history)
5. Minimum 40mm
6. Must have quick-set date function
7. 1 watch per brand, limited to max 15 watches (no 2 watches of same brand allowed). Owned 12 watches now so i can only buy 2-3 more watches for some of the categories listed below and forget about the others. It all depends on pocket, mood, impulse, sales promotion and stock availability.

Dress watch (stainless steel):
Cartier Santos 100 Chrono XL
Breguet Transatlantique XXI

Dress watch (gold - YG/RG):
A.Lange Grande Langematik (YG)
still can't find any RG dress watch that has both lume and date plus not a brand that i've already owned. :Blue:

Haute brand luxury sports watch:
Richard Mille 10 RG - hope to get  :Praying:

GMT:
Pam 88

Holy trinity (by brand):
PP 5711/1A
AP ROO
VC Overseas

With Alarm function:
JLC Navy Seals Alarm

With Moonphase:
Can't find any yet  :(

Casual wear:
Rolex Green Sub
IWC Aquatimer Cousteau Diver Chrono (on rubber strap)
Hublot Aerobang Skeleton (on rubber strap)
GO Evo Panodate (on sailcloth strap)
Blancpain FF, latest blue dial on brushed steel case - hope to get.
Omega Speedmaster 9300, provided they can have the quick-set date function - hope to get.  :Jumping:

For me, long time ago it was the Casio G-shock pieces. Collected until I sold them off or given away to relatives and friends and left with 2 pieces.

After that my intention is to own all Asian made (excluding watches from China) pieces (by brand, not model, else bankrupt already). This exercise is easy as I will get one each from Seiko, Citizen, Orient and Casio. (Did I missed out any other brand?) Now, most of these pieces I used for daily wear or used in rough exercises like hiking, running, golfing etc.

All this while, I still do not have a rough idea of watches which I hope to own in the future. Like the TS mentioned, this will be the first time I am going to actually list them down on`paper' here.

A.  I want a Rolex piece (any model) except for the bling-bling pieces as I like the word Rolex (sounds like Roll aside and Relax)
B.  Next some Swiss pieces (I also want to have all Swiss made major brand in my collection, but $$$ is the obstacle here, so can only pick and choose). Here I have only Oris Big Crown to think of. Some may call it plain and predictable or even old fashioned, but I like them.
C.  Money don't come easy to me, but I hope to acquire the 2 above watches (in no particular order). I don't have a long list either (and not include what the wife wants - already got her an Omega and a Rado). and my wish list (included the Rolex and Oris) are :

1. 6694
2. Submariner or any other Rolex model (doesn't matter if it is self-winding or automatic)
3. Oris Big Crown
4. IWC
5. Mont Blanc
