Deepsea Challenge

Congratulations to James Cameron, on descending to the deepest point on Earth!
Cameron descended 35,756 feet (6.77 miles/10.89km) to reach 'Challenger Deep' in the Mariana Trench.

And accompanying him, was non other than the Rolex Deepsea Challenge





Spec of the watch
51.4mm stainless steel case (28.5mm thick), 5.3mm screw down, grade 5 titanium caseback, 14.3mm sapphire crystal, Triplock crown, Rolex Caliber 3135 (automatic mechanical), Chromalight lume, Cerachrom ceramic bezel insert with numerals coated in Platinum (Pt) via PVD

water resistant:  12,000 meters / 39,370 feet

James Cameron is only the 3rd person in the world who went to the deepest of the ocean.

It might be senseless, or not the most practical watch to wear on a daily basis, but thats what engineering feats are meant to do! Breaking boundaries! If we r constantly content with status quo then there wont be any landspeed attempts, man mission to the moon, and of cos dives to deepest point on earth. Sometimes human make things, to make a statement, and thats all it takes to inspire.

It is basically yes I can do it and M&Ad is top on their list and definitely not practical for a deep sea diver.

Liquid filled quartz watches fit tool watch for deep sea criterion nicely.

HAHAH Rolex must be saying that I can achieve this by just rummaging through my existing parts bin using the same production calibre, crown and bracelet with just a new case, crystal and gaskets. now you all beat that.

IMHO it was not senseless. We need watch companies to push themselves and reinvent timepieces...

Senseless is when you use taxpayer money to send space tourist... sorry if I offended anybody..

After reading a short news article, it is mentioned that Rolex and Cameroon has joined hands in this project. I infer that this watch is to commemorate the success of diving into the deep abyss.
