New Panerai model and movement?
« on: October 29, 2009, 11:58:48 AM »
Not sure if you'll have read this somewhere in other forum, Panerai is going to release a new Radiomir, model PAM336. It is at 42mm, pink  gold, brown dial (love the brown dial).  It will have their newest P.999 inhouse movement which features a 60 hour power reserve.

Picture borrow...

I guess Panerai might slowly replace all model with this P.999 in house movement ;)

Cheers!

What would they do to ALL models that unless the P9000 is flawed?

P9000 has date, 72hours, GMT and automatic. Almost "everything" and I presume they can customize P9000 easily since it is of later design.

Saw that on another forum today.
Do you think they are making this size for the ladies or even smaller wrist guys?

At 42mm it seems very un-panerai like.

Hahha..Don't know really, but Panerai do preoduced 42mm Radiomir... but with Rose gold, it looks nice on the picture...looks like i start to like gold metal now ;)

Personally, 42mm radiomir is still OK since it's more dressy but i prefer 44mm (and above) luminor  :P

Looks like after 2010, Panerai will use all inhouse movement ha...anyone any opinion?

As all of you may already know, from next year ETA will no longer be supplying movement ebauches (CKD movement kits) to companies outside of the Swatch group. I believe that if Panerai do eventually move all their watches to their in-house calibres it will be mainly due to this reason, unless Panerai somehow decide to swallow their pride and source the highly customised Unitas and Valjoux movements directly from the Swatch Group.

However it may take them some time to make the full switch because of the need to ramp up production of their in house calibres. Needless to say we can all expect to pay a lot more for Panerai watches when they eventually abandon the ETA calibres. And I would not be surprised if total production quantity is reduced from current levels.

Just my 2 cents (pure speculation on my part).

Nice Rad. Won't be cheap.

Agree with Yen that it's time to get a historic while stock last.
