Opinions needed; GMT II , 88 or Sub LV?
« on: October 10, 2009, 10:04:50 PM »
so which one would you guys choose?

looking for a GMT watch and kinda stuck with these 3 choices.

i know that the LV is the odd one out here but it's no biggie. I have been tracking second time zone using the 12 hr marker with my seiko divers' bezel. the pre-owned prices now are very attractive.

from a horological point of view the GMT II is an absolute masterpiece in engineering...but just can't get over the feel of a Pam on the wrist.

the 88 is kinda iffy in setting the second time zone. you can only quick set the 24hr hand and not the 12 hr hand. but again the presence on the wrist is sheer.....ahhhh..

i was dead set on an 88 (funds permitting next year) but made the mistake of walking into a  pre-owned shop and trying on a GMT Rootbeer. it just looks old-skool cool!!!

what do you guys think?

what's ur take?

cheers

88 for me. You may want to consider the UN. The quickset is one of the best I have seen.
Not a fan of Rolex so a nay from me.

i can't agree more that UN GMT watches are the most user friendly IMHO. Just need to press the pushers (+/-) and you can adjust the 2nd TZ hand to the desired time. However, i feel that UN watches are slightly "dressier" compared to Pammies.

Rollie's GMT II(c) is a good choice being more versatile...

I'll choose rollie over pammy if i'm in your shoes

I would choose Sub LV or not. Unless u need (not want) GMT, otherwise it is a hassle to set the date when u wear the watch after it has wound down. My experience, Rolex has the dead on accuracy if that is "important".
