FS: Omega Planet Ocean 8900 Master Chronometer 43.5mm
« on: October 03, 2020, 04:50:12 PM »
Hi MWF members,

The following is my short review/sales post for this magnificent third and latest generation of the Omega Planet Ocean featuring the new caliber 8900 movement. The caliber 8900 was the first METAS certified Master Chronometer movement from Omega. To achieve this, the movement has been certified not once, but twice. Firstly, the movement must pass COSC testing to qualify as a chronometer. Then, and only then, can it be subject to the 8 rigorous tests set by METAS. In addition to being accurate between 0 and +5 seconds per day, these movements are also highly magnetic resistant to over 15,000 gauss AND best of all, the recommended service interval is 10 years. Screenshot of the METAS certificate for this particular watch is included below (I've monitored it to be running at +1 sec a day on average).

The stainless steel case features ceramic dial, ceramic bezel insert, 600m depth rating and Helium Escape Valve (HEV). The case measures 43.5 mm at its largest diameter without the crown. The actual diameter of the bezel is 42 mm so it looks and wears a lot smaller than the 43.5 mm suggests. Definitely wears like a 42 mm dive watch in my opinion.

A quick comparison between the latest generation of Omega Seamaster Professional (SMP) and this Planet Ocean (PO). PO comes with LiquidMetal diving scale on its bezel compared to normal enamel on SMP. LiquidMetal will not fade over time, hence it is more expensive to produce and proven to be more durable. Furthermore, the power reserve on PO is 60 hours compared to 55 hours on SMP.

The 3 links bracelet are satin-finished. For me, it is solid in its construction and as good as a Rolex bracelet. There is a push button slider inside the clasp and you will have the ability to extend in small increments up to 9.6mm. Another feature is the pull out dive extension for fitting on a dive suit.

Watch was bought brand new from Omega boutique on 21 December 2019 for RM 21 000 after discount. It was worn a couple of times on the bracelet before switching to Omega rubber strap in early January 2020. All original receipts will be included in this sale. On rubber, it was worn less than 5 times. Safe queen most of the time. Overall excellent MINT condition, conservatively 9.5/10.

The watch comes with a full complete set.

1) Triple box.

2) International warranty card, Master Chronometer card and Pictograms card.

3) Omega zip pouch (people are selling this pouch for approx. RM 80 to RM 100 each).

4) Operating Instructions booklet.

5) Original Omega rubber strap with deployant clasp (worth total of RM 2025).

6) All original receipts/invoices.

I am letting go of everything for RM 18 000 nett / fixed price. Plenty of international warranty periods left, valid til 21 December 2024. My loss is your gain. Watch is 100% genuine, I am just a private watch collector/enthusiast. For reference, you can refer to my previous sales posts/good guys recommendation.

Online transfer during F2F deal is preferred. No international deal, ONLY domestic deal. I am based in Nilai, other KL areas can be arranged too. Please do not hesitate to whatsapp/call/sms me at 0168558894 if you're interested.

My take:
In a nutshell, you're saving a total of RM 5025 for like a brand new watch. With the recent Omega price increment of 5%, basically you're getting this latest generation of Planet Ocean 600m with the price that you would have paid for the lower tier Omega Seamaster Professional Ceramic 300m latest generation. And we're talking about discounted prices here, not the RRP price. You may walk into any Omega AD or boutique for a comparison.

Thank you for reading my long sale post and have a great day ahead, stay safe always. Pictures below of the real watch.
