owned a watch before from that same brand but different model. I owned the Expedition series not too long ago.Built wise is sturdy, movement is reliable and very suitable as a beater. The Anchar series you showed has no hack and handwind function if i am not wrong.
Your ONLY job in this world is to make sure that you are happy

Vostok is the newer generation of Russion watches...
If the design sings to you, no harm getting one.
But I would still go for Poljot or Sturmanskie...
Better yet if can find the original ones made by the First Moscow Watch Company if I remember correctly...  ???
But that's just me... ;D

Russian watches are quite new to M'sia and my first experience was thru RAW. They have quite a few up and coming brands tho and have quite a distinct look compared to the swiss/jap/german brands. The international forums like WUS hv dedicated forums on russian watches. Google, read and learn-they hv tons of info.

I do hv a Vostok Europe N1 Rocket I bought close to 2 years ago from a local AD. Good price to value ratio, tho for the price quality of finishing ( mineral crystal, etc) as you would expect is below swiss. No major complaints tho and I think VE is good value for the $$.

For ur info, VE is based in Lithunia , an ex-Soviet republic thus why there is the word "Europe" to distinguish it from Vostok which is still made in Russia. The earlier VEs have Vostok movements in them, hence it is in a sense very much a Russian watch. From what I know, due to limited production of movements by Vostok, VE hv now started using Seiko movements including in the model u are looking at.

Russian watches like jap/swiss hv their affordable range ( vostok amphibian,Raketa ) ,mid-range (VE, Aviator) to the more higher range ( Shturmanskie , dennisov ). IMHO they offer good value for the $$.

How about servicing issue? Cost and spare parts?
RAW having in-house watchmakers?

RAW does not carry VE in Msia, I bought mine frm Wxxx Txxx. The local agent is in Seremban which if I am not mistaken is also an agent for some other brands inc swiss ones. While I hv not serviced mine, I presume there is support for the brand. For parts, there is always e-bay. Unless the watch has some super duper complication, a competent watch centre shld be able to service.

Vostok nowadays has 3 types of movement from 3 different suppliers: Citizen, Seiko, and Poljot.
