In year 2002, Euro currency was introduced to replace the 12 national currencies following the complete establishment of European Union. To celebrate this remarkable achievement, Tissot had produced a limited line of Heritage Sovereign with coins of the 12 respective countries faithfully reproduced on the case back.
What we have here is the Lira Edizione Commemorativa (No. 0096/2002) produced only for the Tissot boutique in Italy. I was able to get my hands on one of it through an online auction back in 2009. The watch comes in a piano lacquer wooden box along with instruction manual & its original certificate written in Italian.
The most attractive part of the watch is definitely its dial, which reminds me of the JLC Master Control Date “Sector Dial”. Everything about this watch speaks of one word: vintage; from the lacquered Roman numerals to the spade hands & Arabic second tracks. The condition of the watch is immaculate & full service was done in early last year.
The watch was purchased for roughly 750 Euro (~RM3800).
