These are the element associated with SMART WATCH - Touch Screen, LED display, Colorful screen?

Last week i got this interesting newsletter

FIRST SWISS WATCH BRANDS launching Smart Watch... i initially thought of the above images and words like you all

being someone who love mechanical watches for so many years, i am not going to consider Apple/Samsung/Microsoft/sony watches. When i thinking of skipping the newsletter but the images of the newsletter,






pull my attention back to it

Seems like Frederique Constant is jumping into the train of technology with his own way
Classic design with hybrid smart watch movement that provide not only smart functions that linking your IOS & Android App
but also the gateway for future upgrade.

Anyway, my mind still finding these images clashed





associating a dress looking watch made in Geneve, Swiss by a mechanical watch manufacturer with Smart Phone App






A Swiss watch manufacturer presenting their watch like Iphone / Galaxy Note ?

Thinking out of the box, leaving their comfort zone, taking risks....... but to me it is a bit like Johnnie Walker making alcoholic green tea drinks? 

This watch is not for me (yet).

FC been producing quartz watches beside their famous in house mechanical movement watch.

To me this is new watch line above their quartz line

Also catching up the technology train instead of staying put at station!

If you are into quartz watch, or entry level mechanical watch, which no value on its mechanism - it's same price range, same good looking, same quality of finishing... Now with extra function -

Why not?

Best to keep it separate. Smart watch, by definition, can do 1001 things. This implies it would need to have a display screen to show the multiple functions available to it. In F.C.'s case, apart from that one indicator (% of activity) on the watch, you need an accompanying smart phone to do and look at the rest of the functionality. This in itself defeats the purpose of a smart watch.

My view of the future for WIS...a mechanical watch on on wrist, a smart watch on another........

Neither here nor there. I'd keep the smart watch component separate from the traditional mechanical watch, which we all love in the first place.

This is just another glorified quartz watch.

I'd say Montblanc's approach is more sensible as the strap of the mechanical IS the smart watch component of the timepiece. This allows you to change and upgrade in the future, without changing the whole watch.



Kairos T-band has a similar concept and very cool looking...

Lol i just wonder the price for the smart watch is it will be very costful due to the technology in the watch are quite up to trend. Will it be more cheaper if few more years many watches in the market are having smart watch

It seems a big ask for a watch company to jump in and compete with the big guys, kind of like if FC said they are going to start making 4k televisions.

HTC and some of the other brands already do Android and Google so well, watch companies don't have the resources to compete. HTC FTW.

Im an old fashioned guy, still stick to mechanical watch for now.. however, I foresee the smart watch might lead the industries as future trend. IMO
