Need some help on buying my first watch!
« on: August 09, 2014, 11:48:57 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm new to here and nice meeting you all. I plan to get a new watch for myself, my budget is around rm15k, may i know what brands can i go after?
Can i get a new IWC within rm20k? For now i'm considering between IWC aquatimer and Maurice pontos s extreme but not sure about the price in malaysia. Can please give me some advice and assistance with my budget?

I'm currently in the UK, should i buy it here or back in Malaysia? Which one will be cheaper? Really hope someone can help me out here because this will be my first expensive watch and i totally have no experience in buying a watch like this.

Thank you so much!!!  :Praying:

UK might be cheaper if you can get a reasonable discount plus if you are able to claim VAT

UK should be cheaper, try Threadneedle Street at London. Been there once and they give discount without asking

If you have 15k to spend on a watch, my advise would be to

1. do a fair amount of window shopping and try out watches to see what attracts you
2. go home and read as much online about the watch that really catch your interest

.. and then ask about opinions once you have narrowed down your choice. Simply buying what others suggest is a poor idea and it may not be what you really want.

And who knows by the time you have decided on one, your budget might have gone up.

Good luck!
