Stowa Price Increase and Logo change
« on: May 29, 2013, 09:31:39 PM »
Seems like Stowa increasing prices from June 3 onwards. New price list as below:

http://www.schauer-germany.com/newsletter-280513/Preisliste_ENGLISCH_Newsletter_Mai_2013.pdf

Also they are phasing out the old logo with the curvy S to the new one below:

There is also mention of using Soprod A10 to replace ETA 2824-2 so there will be more price increase for that as well

Any thoughts?

ETAs bore me a bit.  Nice to see brands starting to use other movements.

ETAs bore me a bit.  Nice to see brands starting to use other movements.

It's not a complete 1-1 copy of the ETA 2892 like the Sellita movements but it's pretty near. Just 1 mm thicker with other dimensions being identical. I don't know if ETA parts can be utilized.

Quite a few of the problems that we the consumers will face is that as we move away from ETA movements; spare parts, maintenance and servicing problems for the myriad of proprietary movements will become big issues down the line. Especially watches from companies that will inevitably go out of business (also consolidate or bought up) over the years.

Soprod dimensions are similar to the 2892 to aid interchangability, but my understanding us that the movements are otherwise very different.

i don't know why they changed the "S" on the logo. It was very distinctive. The new logo seems somewhat generic with the ordinary "S". I guess, it's too late now; even if I ordered a Stowa before the June 3 price increase - the watch I would get would have the new name logo.

Actually you would still be getting the old logo with the curvy S. They will finish the old stock of dials first. What you see on the website is what you get. So far it's still showing the old logo for Marine watches. Only the Antea is new logo as of now

Hi there,

After a longer period in which the prices for a lot of our models remained unchanged we have now - though it is difficult for us - to react to the changes .
Mainly the purchase of movements is getting more and more expensive (but of course this is valid also for the complete list of components).
Partially we deliver our watches with the movements we could buy at a cheaper price.
The new deliveries of movements (at highly increased prices) have to be considered now in two steps:
Therefore the price increase for the following models is done in two steps:

As from June 13, 2014 and from November 1, 2014 we will change the price for the models listed below as follows:

ANTEA KS - to EUR 695,- net from June 13, 2014
(from November 1st to EUR 730,- net)

Marine Original - to EUR 880,- net from June 13,
2014 (from November 1st to EUR 980,- net)
(good news - by optimising the case production we no more have to charge an additional price for the matt case!)

Seatime - to EUR 780,- net from June 13, 2014 (from November 1 to EUR 880,- net)
(Unfortunately besides the problems with the movements also the prices for case and crystals which will be increased in the near future are concerned).

Prodiver - to EUR 980,- net from June 13, 2014
(from November 1st up to EUR 980,- , unfortunately we have the same situation here as with the Seatime, so also the pricesfor the cases and crystals will be increased in the near future).

Flieger Unitas 6498 to EUR 880,- net from June 13, 2014
(from November 1 up to EUR 980,- EUR net)

Antea KS 41 to EUR 880,- net from June 13, 2014
(no further increase in 2014!).

The following models are excluded from the price increase for 2014 :)

Flieger no Logo automatic
Flieger no Logo with date automatic
Flieger Logo automatic
Flieger with Logo and date automatic
Flieger Baumuster "B"

Flieger Chronograph

Antea 365
Antea 390

Chrono 1938 white
Chrono 1938 black

TESTAF
Flieger GMT

Also in future we still want to build our watches with the best components.
We could look for a cheaper supplier but already since 1927 STOWA stands for best quality and best design as well as a customer friendly service.
This is also in future our aim!
Therefore also in future we want to adhere to the well-known and proven suppliers of the market to make sure that we can deliver ourwatches with the consistent quality!

We are sorry, so please tell the people who are actually interested to take the chance to order still for old prices before June 13.
(we also will do a worldwide newsletter ASAP)

Best regards

Jörg Schauer and your STOWA team !

Still in time to place an order.

Actually Jorg issued another post at official forum said, price up is from 18 June 2014, not 13 June 2014 as stated previously in forum or in newsletter.
