Longines vs Raymond Weil

Hmm...strictly speaking, a chronograph watch can't really be classified as a dress watch.

Hmmm... I would buy a used Omega Speedmaster Professional (aka. Moonwatch) if I were you. 

Tested it on me... dosent suit me..
my wife and my colleagues say i suit dress watches more...

USD7.4K? wow... cant afford it...

Actually, my analysis on the 3 watches above :

RW - Black = Something new and different to my collections.. (prefer looks no. 2)
RW - White = Something similar to my collections, but it looks stunning to me (prefer looks no. 1)
Longines = Branding and build quality, but looks somewhat similar to my collections too... (prefer looks no. 3)

Raymond Weil is a fairly new brand. The guy is still alive ! Heavily marketed in South East Asia. Remember the TV3 news and the RW clock before the news started ?

Longines has been around for a century +.

Both use ETA movements.

However, the Longines is priced higher than the Raymond Weil simply because everyone perceives it to be expensive, high end when it's actually mid range.

My 2 cents:

Longines if you get a deal
Maurice lacroix as a second option.
RW comes in third

Agreed, thats y I get those chrono that is very dressy looking (I.e. no tach, rotating bezel, etc)...

Thanks.... but had to send it back to d AD... coz realised got some scratches on the case and bezel... they say will send it for polishing for me... hmmm... also, is there a problem with the watch as per picture below?  It was like that for bout 2 to 3 mins during the transition.

The date transition.... stuck between 2 dates for a minute or two...
All my other watches are instant lol

That happens to many of my watches. AFAIK, Rolex has the instant day changing mechanism.

I went over, but the shop says "management said to polish first"

I think thats the maximum diameter for a watch that you can wear gracefully. Any bigger the facepalm img will be summoned.

agreed!... my watches are all max at 42mm...
any bigger will look odd lol

not sure bout too small though..
always wanted to get a rollie 36mm, but scared to small for me...

I point that out because for myself, I'm with really pencil wrist, so watch diameter is always an issue. I think my ideal size is actually 37mm, which left me no much choice actually, with mostly vintages.

Actually I also found that the diameter is not always conclusive. Some watch tend to wear bigger than they are rated. Watches without bezel tend to wear larger, and thickness, dial color & lug design have huge influence too. Some watch with curvy case coupled with bracelet will be surprisingly wearable, just have to remove quite a number of links that is.

Anyway, I think this Maurice fit your wrist just nice. And if not mistaken, it is 41mm, correct me if I'm wrong. With that in mind, 36mm should look slightly small on your wrist, but not in an unpleasing way. And th fact is, I think it will look good on you, it will all depend whether you like it or not.

Yep... dis Maurice is 41.5mm...

Guess will have to try out a 36mm and see if it suits me... lol
