Hi All...

Im a noob in this forum but I love watches a lot and I would like to start my own collection of authentic watches. Used to have a collection of replica ones but I think now is a good time to start an authentic collection instead. I cant afford a Panerai, a Patek, a Rolex or even an Omega, but with a 5K or below budget, what watch do you guys think I should buy???

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

For 5k budget, you may buy Seiko, Orient, Citizen, Oris, Ball, Hamilton, Fortis, Steinhart, Stowa, Laco, etc

Revue Thommen, Mido, Schaumberg, Titoni, Bulova, Epos, Archimede, Tissot, Sinn, Damasko, Dievas, Junghans and some Longines, B&M are also within RM5K nett...

without stating your preference in type of watch such as dress, sports, casual, diver, flieger, chrono, etc its too wide

There are tons of watches for under RM 5K nett. Almost all use Swiss ebauches from ETA,Sellita so not much diff in this category. A matter of design preference..

Personal taste and preferences evolve over years, hopefully not 1 full circle otherwise it means we haven't learnt a single thing.

im actually looking for a brand just above Tissot..looking at Oris and TagHeuer currently... would want an automatic swiss made with ETA movement. still very new to the types of movement but i hope i can learn from all the sifus here as well... i am currently using a Tissot V8 for daily use. Soon to be added to my collection is a G-Shock and a Seiko Black/Orange Monster Diver. This is all i could afford for the time being apart from the highlight this year to buy either an Oris or TagHeuer if the price is right.

Welcome to MWF, Madon.

For RM5K budget between a Tag and Oris, personally, I will go for the Oris.
(Note: I have an Oris Big Crown rose gold dress watch, and I love the clean dial, the ticking sound as well the design by Oris.)

Have a good weekend.

Cheers.
