Rolex Datejust, Oyster Bracelet, Smooth bezel
« on: March 19, 2015, 10:25:17 AM »
Hi, just brought my first rolex that day... for my wife. First aniversary
Its a Rolex Datejust, Oyster bracelet and smooth bezel, if not mistaken 36mm

Just want to know what do you guys think about this watch?

She was choosing between this and another datejust but with jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel.
i guess i know she wanted the other one but she knew it was outside my budget.
I should be feeling grateful for having an understanding wife but cant help to feel if i should have brought the other one.
So now i am having buyers remorse... :'(

Most people will tell you two key features on rolex is the jubilee and fluted bezel. But having seen plenty of rolex with the jubilee and fluted bezel, guess mine (wifey's watch) is slightly more unique and... discreet.

Just feel like ranting here. Feel free to post your honest opinion

PS. I am looking at the Explorer 1 myself in the future.

You are a true gentlemen my friend. Congrats on your anniversary.
Now back to the watches...both are are nice and the DJ you bought is beautiful. I was considering one for myself. Some would say the fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet are classic Rolex hallmarks, but so is the smooth bezel and oyster bracelet.

My grandfather has been wearing his Rolex with smooth bezel and oyster bracelet for over 40 years now, still a classic and still beautiful. It was a beautiful thought for you to buy your wife a Rolex for your first anniversary. Enjoy the watch and the explorer one would be a great companion for the DJ

My wife wears one too. Great watch for people who don't know anything about watches, even they will know Rolex makes a good watch. A few of her friends have one, so my wife wanted one, and they are sized well for small wrists (I think ours is 25 mm diameter). Unless your wife is a BIG woman 36 mm will be way too big for her wrist.

There's no right or wrong.
But my personal opinion is that the jubilee bracelet is the way to go for a Rolex on a lady's wrist.
As for the fluted bezel, some like it, some don't.
I think the price difference is around 4k for a fluted bezel.

But as with all gifts.
Your wife should be happy if it's a gift from you.
No point having buyers remorse.
If you see your wife wearing it everyday, then it's ok.

This is the datejust I got for my wife for our 10th anniversary.
Luckily she did not pick something too outrageous...
She wore it everyday... so I know she likes it... well... she dis choose it herself...

Not trying to give you the tone, but isn't specifically requesting for a 'I love MWF' card next to the watch whilst a simple wrist shot would have suffice, a bit snobberish?

IMHO, the only situation that warrants pictures like this is probably when we'd want to put up things to for sale, to prove that is the exact watch that will be up for sale.

Couldn't understand why would the TS need to prove himself to anyone that he actually bought the watch...

Anyway, no offence, just some random thoughts.

Relax, nobody saying you are showing off, just wondering why you really responded to the request, I think you are the first one, if I'm not wrong, even the requester himself didn't have such a pic with "I love mwf"

Bro...this is a watch forum. A place where people who loves watches share their passion. What you have done is not wrong. You have only earned respect from those of us who know that you love your wife enough to get her a nice watch. We are only saying that you need not follow "instructions" from certain individuals asking for "funny" requests...
Do continue sharing and have fun while you are here...

Cheers/Patrick
