Late comer to the party
« on: June 21, 2012, 03:49:56 PM »
Hi Everyone

My name is Gary. Ipoh-mali but working in KL. Great to see we have such an active forum here in Malaysia. Needless to say, I love watches just like everyone here. Unfortunately not enough money only, cos there is just so many I love out there.

Started liking watches since my school days, but of course at that time it was the with the cheap colorful fashion quartz watches and then slowly moved up the horological ladder to slowly and being a full mechanical convert about 10years ago. Ironically it was actually a Seiko quartz which converted me. I loved it so much, it was my daily beater for about 4 years. In fact I even thought about finding a replacement automatic movement for it, ideally a manual winding one, so I can wear it forever without needing to buy batteries for it. That was the moment I realize how much a simple perpetual watch can cost and the rest was history as they say....

This is the Seiko Perpetual which converted me. It is now retired as the Godfather of my collection  :) It has suffered too much daily beatings.

Here's a wristshot of some of my watches.

The constant dilemma of a watch collector, it is either too many watches you want and wish but not enough money or sometime too many watches but not enough wrist time to wear

Weekend's coming up, have a great one everyone.

Gary

Welcome to the forum. It doesnt matter how late you come. It depends on how long you stay. What is the watch next to the longines? The one with the grey dial.

That is quite true. Hahaha. The one next to the longings is a vintage bucherer
