Hi MWF, up for sale is a Patek Philippe Calatrava reference 3796SG. The "S" indicates sapphire display back and "G" for white gold. This is a non-numbered, Japanese limited edition with a rose gold dial (or some may say salmon), said to be just 100 pcs produced in "G" and "J" each. This was is from the late 90s and for a dress piece to have a display caseback like this, is very uncommon for its time -- a clear indication that the Japanese market were ahead of most.
The watch is sold as a full and complete set, with box, paperwork, manual, hangtag, PP vinyl folder... something you don't see often in many neovintage watches, and with such small production numbers, complete provenance matters. The 3796SG is unpolished and has been worn honestly, in a near mint condition. It's case and lugs are sharp, the hallmarks are distinct.
You may consider this reference as the "grandfather" to the modern ref. 6196P (platinum, salmon dial), except in a much more gentleman size of 31mm. But do not be fooled, it wears bigger and I have no problems strapping it on to my 7.5" wrist.
