PAM337 vs. PAM210

Finally taking the plunge and buying my first Panerai

Right now I'm looking at the PAM337 vs. the basic PAM210. I'm inclined to the PAM337 because it's less mass market and as a lady, the 42mm face is very appealing and it's very nice and light. I'm not sure of the price of the PAM210 now, but I think the price difference is about RM5-7k. Just wondering if you guys think that the price difference is worth it? In terms of looks, they're both almost identical.

Welcome to mwf. To answer your questions:

1. As you indicated, the 337 is 42 mm while the 210 is 45 mm. Both watches do not wear their size, ie they wear smaller. So it is dependent on your wrist size and what you can carry.

2. The 210 is fitted with a standard ETA/ Unitas movement while the 337 is fitted with the panerai in-house movement. That account for the difference in price.

3. The 210 is a base Radiomir in that it has only 2 hands, for the hour and minutes while the 337 has the additional seconds hand via a sub dial at the 9 o'clock position.

4. The 210 comes with a basic black leather strap with a large buckle while the 337 comes in a 'nicer' brown crocodile strap with a nice thumb nail buckle. Both are well made and comfortable.

5. The 210 has been around for sometime and is 'more' common. As compared to the 337 that has only been around about 2 or 3 years. The 210 has been discontinued (as of this year). Both watches enjoy low production numbers and is difficult to spot in the wild.

Final decision is yours to make and buy what sings to you. All the best with the hunt.

U need to consider the following
1. Size matter? 45 vs 42 mm
2. 210 with the strap n pre v buckle hv more character while 337 is more dressy with the strap n buckle design
3. Maintenance - eta base 210 movement is proven and maintenance can be done 3rd party
   In house movement is not proven so far but it is "in house" and new design and it is not advise to b service by 3rd party since no parts available for them
4. Price matter?

You are making the plunge into something that costs quite a fair bit.
My take is this:
I hate to be a spoilt-sport but my latest check w the grey market is that Pam prices are tumbling which is expected. Going forward, i don't see how this brand can sustain the price and maintain the momentum of sale. if you go pre-owned and find one that sings to you and take it as an indulgence, then go ahead and get it.

If Europe does not recover, there are going to be plenty more Pam coming into Asia.

Price adjustments is expected as Panerai becomes more main stream and more pieces hit the market. Current economic climate does not help either.

Not just watches... Other product the same...
Just whether u realise or not... Or u choose to realise or not...
