Micro Brands
« on: April 21, 2012, 08:13:25 PM »
I have never tried a Micro brand before. Am interested in a watch from the brand Aquadive. Aside from the main website, where else would one get reviews on the watch?

I think they look like DOXA, one of the brand that supply to Jacques Cousteau in the 60s/70s when he was filming a lot of scuba diving TV program. Back in those days there wasn't that many good dive watches and DOXA was one of the main one use by Jacques Cousteau diving expedition. It has a cult status however the brand has had some difficulties like most swiss watch company in the late 70s and ceased operation in 1980. It was revive recently.

My guess is Aquadive is piggybacking on the DOXA SUB300T deign to win some of their old fans. They both look strikingly similar.

Check out DOXA SUB300T if you like this kind of design. The orange dial is striking.

Regards
Tyler

Why I go think of the Aquadive is because there is a bronze model. For Doxa, have always eyed it but bronze wins in the end.

Just curious. Would you consider Anonimo to be micro brand?

i suggest you keep or sell the anomino in cash. Its pain in the butt to sell a micro brand watch if u are keen to flip in far future.

Yeah.. I am thinking a few times about it too. But the guy is accepting a straight trade and he is here as well. So it is pretty tempting. I more of want to trade it with a mainstream brand watch. I may go to that shop where you get your watch and talk to the boss( in case he will take it) and trade for a watch there.

I see, i think he very particular about the brand he take in... if well known he will take in lor. but then trade in wont yield as much value.

Have been eyeing the Aquadive for some time but still didn't pull the trigger. I feel it's a very nice diver and most of the owners' feedback are mostly positive.

Some of the sites which review this brand - watchreport.com, watchuseek forum and oceanictime.

From watchuseek forum : "The Jenny Family are also Trademark Holder of DOXA S.A. - Mr. Jenny is DOXA S.A's CEO. Jenny (pronounced YANNI) also made the watches resold under the private labels AQUADIVE, FORTIS, JACQUES DROZ, and others. The case was revolutionary in that the movement was removed from the front.
